No. of bitstreams: 1 Pacheco_AlbertoJoseVieira_M.pdf: 12217346 bytes, checksum: 7ddf7930575732ad2407f321f5594ef1 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2004 / Resumo: Nesta dissertação, identificamos algumas mudanças na prática vocal do canto italiano dos séculos XVII a XIX, através da análise comparativa dos tratados de canto de Píer Tosi: "Opinione de' cantori antichi e moderni, o sieno osservazione sopra il canto figurato", escrito em 1723; de Giambattista Mancini: "Pensieri e rifiessioni pratiche sopra il canto figurato", escrito em 1774; e de Manuel P. R. Garcia: "Traité complet sur l'art du chant", escrito em 1847. A partir desta análise comparativa pudemos obter elementos que ajudaram e enriqueceram nossa prática interpretativa do repertório vocal contemporâneo a esses autores, tornando-a mais fundamentada historicamente. Devido à carência em Português de traduções deste tipo, este trabalho conta com traduções nossas de vários trechos dos tratados analisados. Apresentamos, ainda, uma pesquisa biográfica dos três autores citados, traçando relações entre eles. Inserimos no corpo desta dissertação vários exemplos musicais que ilustram as idéias dos três autores analisados. Ao final desta pesquisa, percebemos que o intérprete de música antiga precisa se dispor a compreender a prática musical da época em questão, ou correrá o risco de inserir elementos completamente anacrônicos na peça que deseja executar / Abstract: In this dissertation we identified some changes in the Italian vocal practice of the XVII to the XIX centuries through the comparative analysis of the vocal treatises of Píer Tosi: "Opinione de' cantori antichi e moderni, o sieno osservazione sopra il canto figurato", written in 1723; of Giambattista Maneini: "Pensieri e riflessioni pratiche sopra il canto figurato", written in 1774; and of Manuel P.R. Gareia: "Traité complet sur l'art du chant", written in 1847.From this comparative analysis we were able to observe elements which helped and enhanced our performance of the vocal repertoire contemporary to these authors, achieving a performance historically more sound. Due to the lack of Portuguese translations of these treaties, we have included in this work our translation of numerous excerpts of these three works. Also included is a biographical study of the three authors, tracing relationships between them. Several musical examples of these authors are presented to better illustrate their intentions. As a result of this study we noticed that the interpreter of ear1y music needs to be willing to comprehend the musical practice of the historical period he is performing, or else he(she) runs the risk of inserting elements totally anachronistic to the music he(she) wishes to perform / Mestrado / Mestre em Música
