Milagres constantes e inconstantes: variações no discurso jesuítico : 1610-1640

The miracles were selected from De Angelis Collection, between the period of 1610 to 1640. It should be presented the huge quantity of the miracles registration in Jesuitical letters, aiming the phenomenon as one at the peak of Jesuitical religious experiments. It seems that, being clear construction of a model as well as the necessary missionary filter, that a miracle account should cover: first, to emphasize the degree of kindness / demoniac action (or to set an example of Christianity models), soon afterward to present a conclusion — the interpretation lead by Jesuit reporter / filter / spreader. When this is presented in the condition of letter author as well as the reporter character of the phenomenon, the miracle is evidenced as an ideal model, characterized as the example cases. Grasping the attention about these modal elements, we realize that when the Jesuit stops being an active character of the phenomenon, the account elements change themselves. The judgment about the heavenly validity, compared to the miracle, it should be given by the missioner as well as we could classify it as demoniac action.

The multiples identities articulated and the multiple ways of choosing by the Aboriginals from the towns, demonstrates how the crisis has been used as a stimulated beginning of debates among the Jesuits on important practices and beliefs. As a result, those populations have participated proactively in the pastoral’s elaboration, that is, as a whole of versions and efficient and or creative proposals, frequently ambiguous or tense, in a way of living connected or viable to the Colonial world where they are.

It has as analyzes’ object the letters of Anchieta, drafted between 1554 and 1594. The principal goal of this research is to verify within the letters how Anchieta priest saw the education. The objectives are: a) to exhibit the structure of Anchieta's letters and b) to analyse in Anchieta's correspondence the contributions to Brazilian education of the sixteenth century. The formal education in Brazil was initiated by the priests of the Jesus’ company in 1553. Its members were men who lived not only for the teaching, such as it was primary, secondary and superior, but also of indoctrination. They traveled the world propagating the faith, instituting a place of teaching where they arrived and implanting the European’s culture. For the good achievement of the mission, the Jesuits wrote letters addressed to superiors. The paper is based on theorists of the History of Linguistic Ideas, the Annales and the Cultural History, such as Auroux, Burke, Chartier, Fávero & Molina. Through the collection and analysis of the letters written by Anchieta during the period in which he was in the Jesus’ company in Brazil, the correspondence structure and the education thematic are verified. As thesis’ conclusion we affirm that Anchieta, with his ideas, innovated the teaching within Brazil when he was understood that learning the Tupi it would be easier to teach the European’s language to the Indians / Esta tese situa-se na linha de pesquisa História das Ideias Linguísticas, do Programa de Estudos Pós-Graduados em Língua Portuguesa da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo.
