O protagonismo se d? em duas vias: atrav?s da trajet?ria da diretora, por ser considerada a primeira mulher a dirigir filmes no Rio Grande do Norte e as personagens observando sua participa??o na narrativa apresentada no filme. Para tanto, trazemos textos e debates relacionados ?s quest?es de g?nero, atentando sobre como a discuss?o adentra os estudos da m?dia e resulta na Teoria feminista do cinema, a qual debate a dire??o e protagonismo feminino nos filmes. O Cinema foi uma das principais m?dias de massa durante o s?culo XX, e, em conjunto ? sua populariza??o, desenvolvimento de linguagem e mercado, tivemos mudan?as fundamentais nas reivindica??es e papeis femininos na sociedade, desencadeando a transforma??es nas formas de representa??o bem como apropria??o da produ??o de filmes por mulheres que estivessem conectadas ? nova realidade. Com isto, constru?mos um referencial de diretoras no cinema brasileiro, observando tais mudan?as e protagonismos, trazendo nomes, tem?ticas e como estes filmes abordam a representa??o das mulheres e o universo feminino at? o contexto da retomada, na d?cada de 1990, quando h? aumento substancial de mulheres na dire??o de filmes no pa?s. Por ?ltimo, focaremos na trajet?ria de Jussara Queiroz e sua obra, observando como a categoria da ?mulher nordestina? atravessa tanto estere?tipos como uma percep??o e protagonismo feminino enquanto possibilidade a ser praticada. / This research discusses the female representation and protagonism in the movie A ?rvore de Marca??o (1987-1993), directed by Jussara Queiroz. We consider that the female protagonism happens in two ways: through the trajectory of the director, because she was the first woman to make movies in Rio Grande do Norte, a Brazilian Northeast state, and also by female characters, analyzing their participation and contributions to the film narrative. Therefore, we will bring texts and debates related to gender issues, focusing on how this discussion penetrates media studies and results in the Feminist Film Theory, which talks about women in film direction and their protagonism. Cinema was one of main mass media during the twentieth century and, along with its popularization, language and market development, it has fundamental changes in women social roles, triggering transformations in the forms of representation, as well, the appropriation of film production by women. From this, we make a list of female directors in Brazilian Cinema, observing such changes and their protagonism, names, themes and how these films approaches the representation of women and the female universe until the context of the ?Retomada? in the 1990s, when is an increase of women on film direction around the country. Finally, we will focus on the trajectory of Jussara Queiroz and her work, observing how the category of "northeastern women" crosses both stereotypes, from author to characters, and how female protagonism is a possibility in the movie.
