Crave, the play I chose to direct as my thesis final project, constitutes a complex and crude portrait of our time, a moment in history marked by violence and individualism. These themes permeate the whole script, with its experimental and poetic style constitutes a challenge at the moment of staging it. This document is intended precisely to register the whole process of staging Crave. The first chapter presents the pre-production research, in which I trace the artistic trajectory of the author, British playwright Sarah Kane, in the context of experimental theater. I also analyze the play, and I present my directorial approach to it. In the second chapter I register the actual process of staging it; the methodologies I used in working with the actors and the designers, as well as the challenges I faced in applying them. Finally, the last chapter is a reflection upon the whole process, with the intention of evaluating my growth as a theater director through this project, which constitutes my final step in these training years at SIUC.

Há mais de uma década os robôs paralelos têm atraído a atenção das comunidades acadêmica e industrial devido às suas vantagens potenciais sobre as arquiteturas predominantes - as seriais. Dentre estas vantagens, pode-se citar a leveza, as elevadas velocidades e acelerações e a capacidade de carga. A aplicação industrial mais promissora para estas arquiteturas alternativas de robôs são as operações \"pega-e-põe\", necessárias nas indústrias alimentícia, farmacêutica e de componentes eletrônicos. Neste trabalho apresenta-se um robô paralelo, concebido com a finalidade de realizar operações \"pega-e-põe\" no espaço bidimensional (plano). O objetivo principal é a análise dinâmica deste mecanismo, empregando o método de Kane, para a determinação dos torques dos atuadores e das forças de reação, causados pelo efeito dinâmico de sua movimentação, quando a garra esteja sujeita a esforços externos e realizando uma trajetória retilínea ou circular em movimento uniforme ou uniformemente variado. Para tanto, desenvolveu-se nesta dissertação a análise cinemática do robô, um estudo de possíveis trajetórias para a garra, o levantamento do espaço de trabalho, bem como a análise dinâmica correspondente. Incluiu-se também diversas simulações para caracterizar melhor suas propriedades. / For over a decade parallel robots have attracted the interest from academic and industrial communities due to their potential advantages over the predominant serial architecture. Among these advantages are the lighter weight and higher speeds, accelerations, and load capacity. The most promising industrial application for these alternative architectures are the pick-and-place operations, which are needed in food, pharmaceutical and electronics industries. We show here a parallel robot designed to perform pick-and-place operations in two dimensions , i.e., on a plane. The main goal is the dynamical analysis of this mechanism by means of the Kane method. We determine the torques of the actuators and the reaction forces caused by the dynamical effects of its movement, when its end-effector is subject to external load. The cases of uniform and accelerated movements, with either straight or circular trajectory, are considered. Therefore, in this dissertation we present the kinematics analysis of the robot, an analysis of possible end-effector trajectories, the workspace development, and the corresponding dynamical analysis. A few simulations are also included to better describe its properties.

Neste trabalho estudamos uma rede hexagonal com uma cadeia de impurezas nas bordas e com supercondutividade induzida, de forma a mostrar a existência de fases com férmions de Majorana. Para tal, começamos introduzindo invariantes topológicos, número de Chern e Z2 e mostramos dois modelos para rede hexagonal. O primeiro, modelo de Haldane, fazemos como motivação histórica. O segundo, modelo de Kane-Mele, é usado como base para todo o trabalho. Seguimos introduzindo supercondutividade e como ela ocorre quando aplicada junto do Modelo de Kane-Mele, o método auto-consistente e quais as condições necessárias para termos supercondutividade apenas nas bordas. Continuamos com efeitos de impurezas magnéticas nas bordas e introduzimos férmions de Majorana que são os alvos principais dos resultados. Mostramos então, que existe fases topológicas em cadeias de impureza magnética, com momentos em espiral, contudo o diagrama de fase depende de várias condições. Por fim, mostramos que a variação da fase topológica se deve a oscilações nos níveis de energia em que o invariante topológico também varia, contrariando resultados obtidos para a rede quadrada. Concluímos esse trabalho com implicações experimentais desse resultado e possíveis caminhos que podem ser seguidos. / In this work, we study a honeycomb lattice with induced superconductivity and edge impurity in order to show the existence of a phase that host Majorana bound state. To do so, we start introducing topological invariants, Chern number and Z2, and we show two models for honeycomb lattice. The first, Haldane\'s Model, due its historical importance. The second, Kane-Mele model, because it will be used during all this work. Then we review superconductivity, showing the self-consistent method, and we apply it to Kane-Mele model, in which we find some necessary conditions to induce superconductivity only at the edges. From this point, we study the effect of magnetic impurities at the edges, and we introduce Majorana bound state, that will be the main objective of our results. In our results, we show the existence of topological non-trivial phases for spiral magnetic chain in the zigzag edge. With this we make a phase diagram. We also find oscillation in the energy spectrum and the topological phase changes with the oscillation, this is different from square lattice in which we should not have a change in the topological phase. We conclude this work with experimental implications of our result and possible developments.
