Objectives: Determine the effectiveness of Kinesiotape to decrease pain due to dysmenorrhea in young adult women. Methods: An experimental study was conducted a clinical trial in women of the Police school in Chorrillos and San Bartolo in Lima, Perú. We performed a blocked randomization. The 229 participants were distributed in blocks of 6 individuals. A total of 36 blocks were taken and within each block the allocation to the intervention group and control group was chosen at random simulated. Kinesiotape was applied for 4-5 days to the intervention and control group. Three adhesive bands 5 cm wide and 12 long were placed, the horizontal band was placed directly, the vertical band was applied from flow to cephalic in the suprapubic area, and the last band was applied horizontally in the area lumbar, at the height of L4. Lumbar and menstrual pain was assessed with the Numerical Pain Rating Scale before, 2-3 hours after the application of the method, at 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours respectively. Finally, the intervention phase was carried out with a duration of 3 months for each member where menstrual and lumbar pain was measured during their menstrual period. Results: The efficacy of Kinesiotape vs Sham Kinesiotape in pain associated with primary dysmenorrhea was evaluated. The Efficacy of Long-Term Kinesio Tape on Grip Strength in a Healthy Population

Kotrappa, Neel 01 January 2014 (has links)
Kinesio® Tape was invented in 1973, and since has been used in various clinical and therapy settings to prevent and heal a multitude of physical conditions. Kinesio® Tape is a 100% cotton-based elastic tape that when applied to the skin pulls the skin upwards and creates more space by lifting the fascia and soft tissue, thus increasing blood flow and decreasing edema. The tape was also purported to facilitate the strengthening of weakened muscles through neuromuscular facilitation. The objective behind this study was to determine the long-term effects of applied forearm Kinesio® Tape on maximal grip strength when paired with an exercise program. The study took place at the CMS Athletic Training Center, and was designed to be a matched-pairs, single group, repeated measures experiment. Thirty- two healthy members of the Claremont College community voluntarily participated in this study. There was 16 male and 16 female participants (average age: 21.46 ± 1.76 years; average height 174.92 ± 9.40 cm; average body weight 69.17 ± 9.20 kg). The maximal grip strength of both the dominant and non-dominant hands was measured using a JAMAR Hydraulic Hand Dynamometer. Each of the 32 subjects also participated in an exercise program for two weeks and provided a grip strength measurement at the end of each week. Maximal grip strength values were assessed using a standard paired-samples t-test. Results revealed a significant difference in grip strength in the dominant arm (exercise with Kinesio® Tape) compared to the non-dominant arm (exercise only). When combined with a relatively low to medium level exercise program, Kinesio® Tape significantly increased grip strength when compared to an exercise program alone in a healthy population.

Vliv kinesiotapu na rozsah pohybu při flexi trupu měřené ze stoje / Effect of kinesiotape on range of motion in the flexion of the trunk measured from standing position

Musilová, Markéta January 2013 (has links)
The title of the diploma's thesis: Effect of kinesiotape on range of motion in the flexion of the trunk measured from standing position. Objective/ Aim: The main aim of this work is to evaluate whether the kinesiotape applied to the paravertebral muscles of the lumbar spine affect the range of motion in trunk flexion from standing position. Another aim is to exclude the possibility of a placebo effect by using control material in an identical manner. Methods: The data required for the practical part of this work were obtained on the basis of experimental measurements, where the kinesiotape was applied to the paravertebral muscles of the lumbar spine and it evaluated the change in range of motions in trunk flexion from standing position. The measurements were taken on the basis of the Thomayer and Schober sign. The controll group was measured in a similar way with a material fixomull, which has similar attributes as kinesiotape. Data were analyzed using MS Excel and in a program Gretl. Results: Stastically significant results showing that kinesiotape affects the increase in the trunk flexion motion with the average value of 2,24 cm (t(24) = 2,86, p <0,05) in total and 0,51 cm (t(24) = 0,67, p <0,05) for local effect in the place of use of kinesiotape. Measurement with fixomull hasn't shown...

Účinek aplikace kinesiotapu na svalovou aktivitu dlouhé hlavy bicepsu u hráčů baseballu / The Effect of Kinesio Tape on the Muscle Activation of the Long Head of the Biceps in Baseball Players

Truesdale, Joseph January 2021 (has links)
Thesis Title: The Effect of Kinesio Tape (KT) on the Muscle Activation of the Long Head of the Biceps in Baseball Players. Objective: KT is one of several treatment techniques in injury prevention and treatment for high demand movements, such as overhead throwing. The baseball throwing motion, or the overhead throwing motion, places tremendous stress on the shoulder where coordination of its subsequent musculature, such as the long head of the biceps, are crucial. As a result, injuries do occur. However, the acute effect of KT on the muscular activity of the LHB is not well known. The aim of this thesis is to verify that the application of KT to the skin located superficially to the Long Head of the Biceps increases its activity in the baseball throwing motion. Methods: The research sample included 21 active Czech Extraliga baseball players (21 male, aged 25.3 ±5.9 years, height 183.2 ±6.9 cm, weight 83.8 ±11.1 kg, years baseball of participation 17.1 ±6.5 years), which reported no current or recent shoulder pain or injury. The surface Electromyograph (sEMG) of the muscle activity from each subject was collected using a Bittium Biomonitor transmitter and receiver, model ME6000 (Bittium Inc. Oulu, Finland). There was recorded Maximum Voluntary Isometric Contraction (MVIC) activity of the Long Head...

Ovlivnění vybraných aspektů pomocí kinesiotapu u problematiky plaveckého ramena / Affection of chosen aspects by using kinesiotape in swimmers shoulder

Laudová, Petra January 2019 (has links)
This research is focused on "swimmer's shoulder" and on affection of chosen aspects by kinesiotape. Theoretical part describes a summary of knowledge about origin, diagnostic and treatment of swimmer's shoulder. Kinesiotaping as a nowadays treatment method and its effects are also specified. The thesis provides a brief description of chosen aspects (pain, tactile acuity and proprioception) and their measuring by objectification methods. Practical part deals with measuring, evaluation and comparing of mentioned aspects before and after treatment by kinesiotape. Methods: 20 competitive swimmers (average age 18,3 years, SD ± 3,10) with shoulder pain were chosen for investigating and measuring. Pain was observed by visual analog scale (VAS) and pressure algometry, tactile acuity by esthesiomether and proprioception by a special method, all before and after treatment. A control group without kinesiotape was included to the research. Results: The experiment showed that tactile acuity was altered in patients with kinesiotape by 27,5 mm in average. This result was evaluated as statistically significant (p = 0,0023). Although values of pain measured by VAS and pressure algometry were enhanced, they were not very significant on the importace level 0,05 (p = 0,1540, resp. 0,1575). Proprioception was also...
