Electrification of rock drills : An initial study of an electromagnetic percussion concept

Smith Siljestrand, Jakob, Chebolu, Sai Shridhar January 2023 (has links)
The world is looking for greener solutions and so is the mining industry. This quest has led to the question whether it is possible to have a completely electric rock drill. This work carries out an initial exploration of completely electrified percussion. Furthermore, it compares the preliminary performance of an electrified rock drill against a hydraulic counterpart. A mathematical model for an electromagnetic linear motor was developed and simulated as a component in the simulation software Hopsan. This component was then incorporated into a electromagnetic rock drill model which uses components from Epiroc’s in-house developed library. The electromagnetic rock drill model was then optimised and used to obtain the performance characteristics such as impact energy and frequency which were compared against one of the hydraulic rock drill models, COP 1838. The results show that it is possible to reach the same performance as the COP 1838 with enough input current. The characteristics were then studied with respect to variation of physical parameters of the electromagnetic linear motor and input current. Finally some limitations and strengths of the electromagnetic rock drill concept are discussed and some conclusions are presented.

Vývoj instrumentálního zařízení pro výzkum nanostruktur / Development of Instrumental Equipment for the Characterization of Nanostructures

Nováček, Zdeněk January 2015 (has links)
The thesis focuses on the development of instruments used for surfaces and nanostructures characterization. Individual techniques of scanning probe microscopy provide different information of the sample surface. The resolution of scanning probe microscopy, providing 3D topography information, reaches subnanometer values or even an atomic level. Therefore, the scanning probe microscopy is one of the most employed method in the field of nanotechnology. The thesis describes the details of development of two scanning probe microscopes intended for measurement under ultra high vacuum conditions. As for the first one, many changes were proposed leading to its better variability, extended functionality and increased user comfort. The second microscope is being design with the aim of its combination with other analytic techniques, especially with scanning electron microscopy. An integral part of scanning probe microscopes is a precise positioning system for navigation of the probe to the selected site. Therefore, the thesis also deals with the development of linear piezoceramic actuators used not only in the ultra high vacuum compatible microscopes but also as a general purpose nanomanipulators.

Čejka, Pavel January 2011 (has links)
The diploma thesis is aimed at the constructional design of diaphragm pumps with a linear motor. This pump is supposed to be used in medicine for pumping the blood or as an artificial heart. The basic facts, which are focused on the function of the heart and artificial heart, are mentioned in the first parts of the thesis. The next parts describe the diaphragm pumps and the constructional ways of their diaphragm fixation. Furthermore, the basic calculations, describing the function of the pump, are derived there. The basic parameters of the pump are also calculated. The thesis also contains the description of the body pump construction, whose working room is optimized by CFD calculation before the pump is manufactured. The final part of the thesis is concentrated on the measurement evaluation of produced pump model.
