Chassi För Bromsvagn : Bromsvagn avsedd för klimatiska tester för fordon / Chassis for brake trailer : Brake trailer intended for climatic tests for vehicles

Edberg, Erik January 2018 (has links)
This report presents my thesis for a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Umeå University. The thesis is part of a pilot study for a brake trailer, that BAE Systems Hägglunds AB have considered using for vehicle testing at their testing department. The pilot study has been done together with three other students, that have worked with integrated parts. Strength of materials, Computer-Aided Design(CAD) and Finite Element Method(FEM) have been the main theory of this report. The implementation describes how the chassis was designed in CAD and how strength analyses were performed by hand and with FEM. A failure modes and effects analysis was made with the purpose of analysing what could go wrong with the design.Quotation of different modelled components have been investigated together with possible suppliers. The calculated effective stress that emerged in a section of the chassis loading platform was compared with the FE-analyses. The difference in stress was not significant and therefore it was deemed within reasonable values. The report concludes with suggestions for continued work.

Omkonstruktion av omrörare och ledning av ombyggnadsprojektet : Popeupplösaren vid en processindustri för papper och massa / Redesign of stirrer and management of the installation : Popedissolver in a process industry for pulp and paper

Selvin, Martin January 2018 (has links)
This report covers a project carried out as a course degree project for a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Karlstad University. For a long time there have been operational problems with the popedissolver in a process industry for pulp and paper, the availability of the equipment has been low for a long time and with several breakdowns. The thesis project has been aiming to make a service-friendly redesign of the stirrer with an increased availability of the equipment. The operational problems were initially seen as a result of long-term operation with too high rotational speed. This has resulted in heavy strain on the stirrer components, with mechanical wear and leakage as a consequence. The redesign has been planned for a long time before this project without attaining any results. To ensure that the correct problem were solved, a root cause analysis was made. Which together with a requirement analysis, was the foundation the project was based on. A number of concepts for different solutions were brainstormed and presented to the employer. Of these only one concept passed the Pahl and Bietz elimination matrix. The design underwent a continuous risk analysis to eliminate risks and redesign the equipment throughout the project. The work resulted in a redesigned driveline with a corrected output speed, along with a refurbishment of the stirrer components making the stirrer capable of managing the continuous operation and 100 % availability demanded by the employer. This was done with standard components where possible, in addition to that a few components has also been manufactured specifically for this project.  For the new equipment, a preventive maintenance program was developed as a result of the root cause analysis, along with all technical documentation relating to the design it was handed over to the employer. The project was carried out within both the economic limitations and the timeframe. A quality improvement in the dissolved pulp became a positive side effect of the project. This was nothing that the project was attempting to solve initially but was growing as thought during the course of the project. It proved to be of great importance to the mills continuous quality work.

Optimering vid byte av fyllningsplatta / Optimizing the change of filling plate

Afverberg, Marcus January 2018 (has links)

Gustafsson, Willy Aron January 2020 (has links)
In the converter hall at Rönnskärsverken in Skelleftehamn, there are three Pierce-Smith converters forthe manufacturing of copper. Associated with each converter is a converter hood whose purpose is todeal with the process gases that develop during the copper refining process. To this converter hood is ahatch called Garfield, whose purpose is to enable loading of material and tapping of the converterrespectively. This study involves a design development of this Garfield hatch. The problem with thecurrent design seems to be varied, but this study is limited and largely deals with the determination ofthe new placement of lift shackles and control of the strength of the door's framework is arbitrary forthe new placement. The existing structure is compared with the previous one to present what changeshave taken place to justify the upcoming changes to the developed structure. The location is desired tobe changed so that the door hangs parallel to the converter hood during assembly and disassembly. Thisis accomplished by determining the center of gravity of the Garfield hatch and moving the lifting centerof the shackle that attaches to the traverse crane. This so that the door as a system achieves torqueequilibrium when it hangs from the traverse crane so that the horizontal plane of the Garfield hatch isparallel to the angle of the converter hood. Once the position of the shackle is determined, both the beamto which the shackle is attached are simulated and the truss in which the shackle beam is included. Thisis to investigate whether stresses in the material that develops in the shackle beam is too high to accept.Since the calculation basis for the existing location of the shackle is lacking, simulation is performedfor both the existing and the revised version. Through this, one can investigate how the stresses differbetween the different designs. The result of this is that the position of the shackle can be moved to theposition where torque equilibrium is achieved, and the Garfield hatch hangs parallel to the converterhood and the developed stresses are within acceptable levels for the material. In addition to the position of the shackle, it is also being investigated whether a solution can beimplemented to facilitate the orientation of the Garfield hatch during assembly. The solution to this isthe mounting of loops on the sides of the frame assembly to which control straps can be attached toobtain a rotation of the Garfield hatch under the lift. The loops are heavily oversized but should not beused to attempt to lift the Garfield hatch in any way.The design solution of the Garfield hatch cassette modules which constitute the abdomen of the hatchunder the framework and the sealing layer is evaluated. In terms of these, they can be replaced by asolution that can obtain a more reliable service life as they tend to lose their function relatively quicklydue to the harsh environment in the converter hood. The result shows that the revised position of the shackle obtains the desired angle and meets therequirements for strength.

Ahmad, Ammar, Abbas, Rand January 2019 (has links)
This thesis includes a mechanical engineering work that has been conducted in collaboration with TEROC AB, in the endeavour to manufacture blades for small wind turbines with 1.2 m rotor diameter primarily based on Piggott's construction. The method used in the project is based on Freddy Olsson's books; Principal & Primary construction, Piggott's design, Michael F. Ashby process and International Electrotechnical Commission. The group was commissioned by TEROC AB to review alternative manufacture with clear requirements specifications, various proposals were put forward. The first is that the blades are made of wood material, others of plastic composite and third proposal of aluminum. Proposals were the most suitable option for continuing with and developing further. The group performed simulation in Catia V5 and design of prototype sheets. The group performed strength calculations on the blade, with the collected facts the group could ensure the wind power blade's strength. The result has become a CAD model drawn in the Catia V5, the Cad model has also been used for a FEM analysis of strength theory, and selected material using the Michael F. Ashby process

Bärverkskonstruktion för Kylsystem / Beam Construction for new cooling system

Winstedt, Joel, Hasso, Dyana January 2022 (has links)
Halmstads Energi och miljö (HEM) is making major upgrades in its facility where it will replace its cooling system from current water cooling to air cooling. The new cooling system is desired to be placed on the roof of the facility. However, the existing roof isn't built to carry such a heavy load. This thesis will be coming up with a concept for a load-bearing structure that can be placed on the existing concrete pillars that already exist at the facility today, so it doesn't apply all stress to the roof. The ground for the work is based on discussion with the company and a theoretical study where the desire and requirements for what the construction must withstand have been realized, which the study has since worked to achieve. During the literature study, knowledge was gathered about what the constructions must cope with to meet building regulations and euro standards. After finding out the forces and marginal constructions needed to get through, various concepts were developed. The most suitable concept was then selected by using the pugh matrix. After selecting the concept, the concept was constructed in a CAD program where FEM calculations were used to dimension the concept to ensure that it can withstand the forces it will be exposed to. The results of the study were a structure that can reasonably be placed on the existing concrete pillars where the new cooling system can rest on. The construction at the same time meets the requirements required by the euro standards.

Utveckling av tippningsmekanism till slaggtruck

Kitok Notström, Joakim January 2023 (has links)

Fan-wall modifications : Improving Vibrations

Ngu, bobby January 2023 (has links)
FläktGroup is one of the world’s largest supplier of products and solutions related to indoor climate control. The Jönköping location is the largest production facility for FläktGroup. Air handling equipment for commercial buildings are the company's major products, while ventilation and air treatment are its primary business. An air handling unit is used to continually exchange indoor air for outdoor air in order to accomplish the desired air exchange in a structure. The air handling unit is used to heat, chill, and filter incoming air in addition to using fans to move air into and out of the building and exchange heat between incoming and exiting air. To further increase the lifecycle of the current fan-walls. FläktGroup had a study done by a student to see if it was possible to decrease the vibrations on the fan-wall. Since a decrease in vibrations will results less stress on the bearings and increase the lifecycle. Which in turn means that the product needs to be replaced less often and have less maintenance done. The study will be following FläktGroups steps for a product development. The overall project can be divided in the following steps: 1. Project definition – 2. Concept generation – 3. First selection of candidate concepts – 4. CAD design of candidate concept(s) – 5. Prototype build –6. Verification in lab – 7. Conclusion. The study will mainly focus on step 2-7. Due to the complexity of the study, it will have a experimental approach, which means that no calculations will be done and everything will be done by experimenting and verifications through data collection software. The main focus to reduce vibration on the air handling unit was to modify and improve upon existing fan-walls, either to stiffen it or cushion it. The theory used for this was a simple vibration formula that contained the correlation of stiffness, mass, and damping. Through the process given by FläktGroup three main concepts were chosen as candidates to further test on and finally one concept was picked to pursue. A horizontal beam that reduced vibrations considerably. A concept that showed extra potential was also found, however not enough testing was done and is encouraged to be tested more upon in the future.
