In spite of the existing studies about this novel which follow this line of research, such as the ones by Homem (2001) and Lisbôa (2008), here we reflect about the silence from the point of view of what is said, not said, and implicit that is established in Macabea s discourse in her dialogical relation with characters Olímpico and Rodrigo (the narrator and author of the narrative). It is in this context that we come up with the manifestations of silence appearing in the expressions, reproving, punctuations, and paratexts, where the author s silence becomes visible. The theoretical fundaments of this research concentrate on silence built in the discourse level, either in the sense of inaugural language (Orlandi, 1995), or through the discourse clashes among author, narrator, and characters faced with the limits of expression (Bakhtin1998;1999;2000), or through the empty spaces in the interaction between the text and the reader (Iser). The analysis of the confrontations between the diverging points of view of the authors (Clarice Lispector and Rodrigo) and of their creatures (Macabea, Olímpico, Rodrigo) can spread light on the supposed autobiographical identity between the self who lives and the self who writes, due to the silence that operates in this subtle interval of mediation. The metafictional marks in this double-voiced writing Rodrigo/Clarice Lispector also indicate the frontiers between the book and the absence of the book, which is undone along the spaces of what can or cannot be said, projecting a unique reality made of textual silence. Not a mute silence, but one that is open to the possibilities of meaning something. This is a silence in a latent state, preceding word and, at the same time, in need of it to exist / Nosso estudo centrou-se sobre A Hora da Estrela (1977), tendo por objeto de investigação a linguagem do silêncio na sua relação com a personagem Macabéa, inscrita no discurso de um narrador Rodrigo - que é também responsável pela criação da personagem e do livro, assumindo a duplicidade autoral com Clarice Lispector. Não obstante haver na fortuna crítica dessa obra alguns estudos que caminham nessa direção, como os de Homem (2001) e Lisbôa (2008), aqui tratamos do silêncio a partir do dito, do calado e do subentendido que se estabelece no discurso de Macabéa na sua relação dialógica com a personagem Olímpico e com Rodrigo, narrador e autor do relato. É nesse âmbito que trouxemos à tona as manifestações do silêncio a partir das expressões, da censura, das pontuações e dos paratextos, nos quais fica visível o silêncio autoral. Os fundamentos teóricos da pesquisa se centraram no silêncio construído na instância discursiva, seja em termos do seu sentido de linguagem inaugural (Orlandi, 1995), seja por meio dos embates discursivos entre autor-narrador-personagens confrontados com os limites do dizer (Bakhtin, 1998; 1999; 2000), seja por meio dos lugares vazios na interação textoleitor (Iser, 1979). A análise dos confrontos entre pontos de vista divergentes dos criadores (Clarice Lispector e Rodrigo) e de suas criaturas (Macabéa, Olímpico, Rodrigo) pode evidenciar a pretensa identidade autobiográfica entre o eu que vive e o que escreve, graças ao silêncio que opera nesse intervalo de mediação sutil. Os lances metaficcionais dessa escritura, a dupla voz Rodrigo/Clarice Lispector - apontam também para a fronteira entre o livro e a ausência do livro, que se desmancha por entre os espaços do dizível e do indizível de modo a projetar uma realidade única feita do silêncio textual. Não um silêncio mudo, mas aberto às possibilidades do significar. Silêncio que se encontra latente, que antecede a palavra e, ao mesmo tempo, dela necessita para existir
