O objetivo geral do trabalho é narrar a vida e a obra de Abdias Neves (1876-1928): literato, político, maçom, anticlerical e livre-pensador piauiense. Compreender Abdias Neves imerso no meio social, junto com outros homens, perceber a sua interação com as demais pessoas de seu tempo, de seu território. Percorrer os espaços de sociabilidadesvividos pelo biografado: o mundo das academias, da literatura, dos jornais, das revistas e da vida político-partidária, a fim de aprofundar o estudo do anticlericalismo no Brasil e, em particular, no Piauí / Abstract: The thesis has the form of a historical biography as it has been thought of, in multiple and different forms, by historians and socilogists from the years eighty of the XX century . The general objective of this work is to narrate the life and work of Abdias Neves (1876- 1928): a literate man, politics, mason, anticlerical and a piauiense free thinker. It has the aim to comprehend Abdias Neves immersed in the social medium, together with other men, to perceive his interaction with all the other persons of his time, of his territory. To go through the spaces lived by the biographer: the world of academies, of literature, of journals, or magazines and of his political party life in order to deepen the study of anticlerism in Brazil and in particular in Piauí / Doutorado / Politica, Memoria e Cidade / Doutor em História
