Verifica-se, no cenário atual, uma forte tendência para a disponibilização de conteúdos digitais e a falta de uso de padrões adequados para a representação e a descrição desses recursos em ambientes digitais, o que é apontado pela literatura como uma grande preocupação para a comunidade científica e focado neste trabalho enquanto problema da pesquisa. Nesse contexto, a proposição desta pesquisa é verificar na literatura científica a aplicabilidade e a funcionalidade das tecnologias e instrumentos disponíveis como padrões de representação e descrição de conteúdo e forma, no âmbito das bibliotecas digitais, com o objetivo de identificar e de caracterizar o uso e a aplicação do MarcOnt enquanto ferramenta para a construção de formas de representação da informação para bibliotecas digitais na atualidade, destacando-o como instrumento para descrição dos aspectos semânticos dos conteúdos digitais nestas ambiências. Como metodologia, o presente trabalho caracteriza-se por ser uma pesquisa de análise exploratória e descritiva do tema, com o qual é possível obter subsídios para um maior entendimento e compreensão mais detalhados do MarcOnt e as tecnologias que estão abarcadas no âmbito das bibliotecas digitais para a construção Web Semântica. Como resultado, procurou-se demonstrar a aplicação da ferramenta MarcOnt em um ambiente informacional específico, a Biblioteca Digital Semântica JeromeDL, para analisar nos fundamentos da Catalogação as formas de representação dos recursos informacionais. O que nos levou a definir categorias para análise futura do sistema em comparação com o padrão de metadados MARC21. / Abstract: The relevancy of not only the Web but also the digital libraries for the diverse branches of Science has stimulated researchers and scientific communities to search for integration solutions, interchange and semantic understanding about the contents that circulate in them. In the present scenary, a strong tendency is verified for the availability of digital contents and the lack of use of adequate patterns for the representation and description of those resources in digital environments, what is pointed by literature as a great concern for the scientific community and focused on this work as a problem of the research. In this context, the proposal of this research is to verify, in the scientific literature, the applicability and functionality of the technologies and instruments available as patterns of representation and description of content and form, in the ambit of digital libraries, with the objective of identifying and characterizing the use and the application of MarcOnt as a tool for the construction of forms of information representation for digital libraries at the present time, highlighting it as an instrument for describing the semantic aspects of the digital contents in these environments. As a methodology, the present work is characterized by being an exploratory and descriptive analysis of the subject, with which it is possible to obtain subsidies for a better and more detailed understanding and comprehension of MarcOnt and the technologies that are included in the ambit of digital libraries for the Semantic Web construction. As a result, it was attempted to demonstrate the application of the MarcOnt tool in a specific informational environment, the JeromeDL Semantic Digital Library, to analyze the fundamentals of Cataloguing the forms of representation of informational resources. Essa relação é objeto de estudo dessa pesquisa, que se pautará na análise do formato de intercâmbio de dados bibliográficos Machine Readable Cataloging, MARC 21, em sua versão em Extensible Markup Language, XML, linguagem de marcação que prove mecanismos de comunicação de dados desenvolvida pela Ciência da Computação, caracterizando o referencial teórico da pesquisa a partir da interdisciplinaridade existente. O objetivo da pesquisa é destacar a importância da XML para a Ciência da Informação, a partir da própria estrutura da linguagem e de estudos sobre Formas de Representação, apresentando a versão MARC 21 em XML como ferramenta adequada para representação documentária. A proposição apresenta subsídios teóricos e metodológicos que destaca o MARC 21 em sua versão XML como uma relevante opção de representação documentária, e promove uma discussão sobre a necessidade de desenvolvimento de ferramentas de software e não de novos métodos de representação. Evidências técnicas sobre o MARC 21, XML e a indicação a versão MARC 21 em XML como método adequado para representação documentária embasarão a proposição. A partir de uma metodologia de análise, verificou-se que a necessidade de desenvolvimento de métodos e teorias para a fundamentação da representação documentária e também de implementação efetiva de ferramentas de software preocupada com a usabilidade da interface para otimização do processo de representação, ocasionam dificuldades na apresentação de uma catalogação de qualidade, especialmente, no que se refere a representação... / In the cataloguing process, indispensable for the Science of the Information appears the creation of forms of descriptive documentary representation, for that, its relation with the theories in representation ways studied by the Cognitive Science. That relation is the object of study of this research, that it will be ruled in the analysis of the format of exchange of bibliographical data Machine Readable Cataloging, MARC 21, in its version in Extensible Markup Language, XML, demarcation language that proves mechanisms of communication of data developed by the Science of the Computation, characterizing the theoretical referencial of the research starting from the existent interdisciplinary. The objective of the research is to detach the importance of XML for the Science of the Information, starting from the own structure of the language and of studies on Forms of Representation, introducing the version MARC 21 in XML as appropriate tool for documentary representation. The proposition presents theoretical and methodological subsidies that it detaches MARC 21 in its version XML as a relevant option of documentary representation, and it promotes a discussion about the need of development of software tools and not of new representation methods. Technical evidences about MARC 21 XML and the indication of the version MARC 21 in XML as appropriate method for documentary representation will base the proposition. Starting from an analysis methodology, it was verified that the need of development of methods and theories for the grounding of the documentary representation and also of effective implementation of software tools worried with the usability of the interface for optimization of the representation process, they cause difficulties in the presentation of a good cataloguing, especially, in what refers to the representation, description and exchange... The thesis contains basic information about image documents digitalization. A brief list of common used standards in Czech republic is shown. The standards can be used in description of digitalized documents by institutions such as libraries, scientific departments and universities. The thesis specifically solves the dilemma of the preservation and the accessing of B.P.Molls large map collection stored in Moravian Library in Brno city. It analyses step by step the characteristics of the saved documents, style of their interlacing and data representation. In terms of deposition and manipulation it comes with description list of open-source digital libraries and it chooses the Fedora repository. It solves methods of object-model implementation while using this digital library. The functional parts are web presentation of the mentioned map collection and an effectiveness test showing large-scale maps using the flash Zoomify browser. Web presentation uses the repository services as often as possible, and thus allows searching and searching through the bibliographic records of the presented documents. The end of the thesis sums up the obtained results and presents the incoming development course of presentation and popularization of the map collection.
