Modely a simulace pochodů bezemisního mini-exkavátoru s elektrickým pohonem / Models and simulations of the emission-free mini-excavator with electric drive

The diploma thesis dealt with a partial problem of conversion of the mini-excavator E19 by Bobcat with an internal combustion engine to emission-free propulsion. The main task was design and construction of electrical and hydraulic circuits focusing on the drive of a mini-excavator. The simulations verified the properties and behavior of the mini-excavator under different conditions and initial settings. The results were comfirmed by experimental measurements. The output of the simulations recommended adjustments to the values of individual parameters depending on the travel speed but also the efficiency of the entire machine.

Educational Modeling for Fault Analysis of Power Systems with STATCOM Controllers using Simulink

The analysis of power systems under fault condition represents one of the most important and complex tasks in power engineering. The study and detection of these faults are necessary to ensure that the reliability and stability of the power system do not suffer a decrement as a result of a critical event such as fault. The purpose of this thesis is to develop and to present an educational tool for students to model FACTS devices using Simulink. Furthermore, the development of this thesis provides the means for students to model different types of faults. The development is based on presenting a power system – the Test System - by its simplest form including generation, transmission, transformers, loads and STATCOM device as an example of the general FACTS devices. The thesis includes modeling of the Test System using Simulink and MATLAB program to produce the results for further analysis. The findings and development included in the thesis is intended to serve as an educational tool for students interested in the study of faults and their impact on FACTS devices. Students may use the thesis as the building block for developing models of larger and more complex power systems using Simulink and MATLAB programs for further study of impacts of FACTS devices in power systems.

Development of a 2-Mode AWD E-REV powertrain and real-time optimization-based control system

Increasing environmental, economic, and political concerns regarding the consumption of fossil fuels have highlighted the need for more efficient and alternative energy solutions. Hybrid electric vehicles represent a near-term opportunity for reducing liquid fossil fuel consumption and green-house gas emissions in the transportation industry, and as a result, many automotive manufacturers have invested heavily in hybrid vehicle development. The increased complexity of hybrid electric vehicles over standard internal combustion engine-powered vehicles has subsequently placed significant emphasis on development of advanced control methods geared towards efficient energy management. Real-time optimization-based methods represent the current state-of-the-art in terms of hybrid vehicle control and energy management. This thesis summarizes the development of an optimization-based real-time control system – which determines the optimal instantaneous system operating point, including gear, traction split between front rear axles, and engine speed and torque – and its application to an all-wheel drive extended-range electric vehicle that uses a General Motor’s front-wheel drive 2-Mode electronic continuously variable transmission and an additional rear traction motor. The real-time control system was developed and validated using a plant model and preliminarily tested in the vehicle using a four-wheel drive chassis dynamometer. Results of simulation and in-vehicle testing demonstrate engine operation focused on high-efficiency operating regions and minimal use of the rear traction motor. Further testing revealed that a rule-based traction split system may be sufficient to replace the optimization-based traction split determination, and that the limited rear traction motor use was not a function of the motor itself, but rather an inherent result of the selected architecture. / Graduate

This thesis is concerned with condition monitoring and quantitative analysis of synchronous motors. Constantly rising requirements on the reliability of motors develop new methods of predictive diagnostics, which can identify failure conditions in the initial stage. Created mechatronic systems with the implemented failure from pre-prepared PMSM model are tested by unconventional condition monitoring methods. Software solutions of diagnostics and model designs of the mechatronic systems are implemented in MATLAB & Simulink. Part of this work is also a short introduction to the issue with necessary theoretical fundamentals and research of some selected methods of predictive diagnostics.

The doctoral thesis is divided into two main parts.The first part deals with optimalization of the equivalent circuit parameters of induction motor for calculation steady state characteristics:- - of the equivalent circuit parameters of induction motor with normal slots. - of the equivalent circuit parameters of induction motor with deep slots. -simulation of selected chracteristics and comparison with measured values. The second part of this work deals with optimalization of the equivalent circuit parameters of induction motor for calculation of dynamic characteristics of induction motor –simulation of selected chracteristics and comparison with measured values. The optimalization is based on mutual comparison of measured and calculated torque-speed and current-speed characteristics.

At the beginning is diploma thesis focused on a distribute power line parameters measurement and examination changes of this parameters depending on using of various power line cables. On the basis of measurements is made a transmission channel in Matlab & Simulink, where are executed simulations with power transmission line. The simulated power line is based on measured distribute parameters or physical proportions of cabels. By changing different parts of simulated communication channel is a symbol error rate expressed on the lenght of transmission line.
