Organizational Modifications to Support JIT Implementation in Manufacturing and Service Operations

Yasin, Mahmoud M., Small, Michael H., Wafa, Marwan A. 01 January 2003 (has links)
This study investigates JIT implementation practices and performance in manufacturing and service organizations in the US. Literature related to JIT usage and performance in both sectors is reviewed. A field study is then conducted to investigate the actual implementation experiences of a selected group of service and manufacturing users of JIT. Our findings from the literature and the field study are used to develop four research hypotheses that are tested using survey data from 130 manufacturing and 61 service firms. Manufacturing and service firms that had engaged in modifications such as operator and management training and improving linkages with suppliers prior to implementing their JIT systems experienced less implementation problems and achieved higher levels of success than firms that placed less emphasis on these modifications. This paper details and discusses these and other results from our study. In addition, managerial implications of our findings are presented.

Hodnocení vývoje racketlonových turnajů v Čechách v rámci světové Tour / Evaluation of the development of racketlon tournaments in the Czech Republic within the world Tour

Rejthar, Jan January 2014 (has links)
Title: Evaluation of the development of racketlon tournaments in the Czech Republic within the world Tour Aims: By this diploma thesis I am picking up the threads of my bachelor thesis, where the procedure of organisation of the 7. year of international racketlon tournament in the Czech Republic was described in detail. The purpose of this thesis is to bring closer and define the development of the organisation of Czech open in racketlon through its attendees' evaluation. The results of the evaluation will serve for improvement and adjustment of all organisational aspects when this sports event will be next organised. Another important goal of this thesis is to bring closer this so far not so known sport to the public and, eventually, to help with the organisation of a sports event of a similar kind. Methods: The survey on evaluation of tournament attendees' satisfaction with the development and quality of its organisation will be conducted through written and electronic questionnaire after IX. Czech Open Racketlon which was held in Prague from 12th to 14th April 2013. For the analysis and description of the organisation itself the case study approach will be used. Keywords: sport, racketlon, organisation, marketing, management

Nothing But a “g” Thing? Developing and Testing an Individual Differences Model of Frame-of-Reference Rater Training Effectiveness

Gorman, C. Allen 27 October 2017 (has links)
Rater training is important for improving the quality of human resource decisions. However, there is little research that has examined the influence of trainee individual differences on rater training effectiveness. In Study 1, I found support for a partially mediated model in which learning goal orientation, internal locus of control, and promotion focus influenced rater training motivation through general self-efficacy. In Study 2, I extended the model to include rater training criteria, and I found that rater training motivation did not predict declarative knowledge, rating validity, or rating accuracy, but cognitive ability predicted all three outcomes. Overall, the results suggest that although individual differences in attitudes are relevant for understanding rater training motivation, cognitive ability may be much more important for understanding rater training effectiveness. Implications for rater training theory and practice are discussed.

User Reactions to Frame-of-Reference Scales. An Experimental Study

Bryant, Will, Bartkoski, Timothy J., Meriac, John P., Gorman, C. Allen 19 April 2018 (has links)
Raters have been shown to react differently to performance evaluation formats. However, reactions to a new and promising format, frame-of-reference scales (FORS), remains untested. This experiment found that FORS users reacted more positively compared to standard scale users overall, and results were attributable to perceived accuracy and fairness.
