The term "Urban Forest" was used to identify the areas. The work objective was to understand how the populations of these regions interact with these spaces. It was also sought to identify similarities, divergences and potentialities for each reserve. Through research on the environmental movemen reflections on what would be a sustainable use for reserves were elaborated. Questions about the tourism activity and its potential for a local economy were contextualized. The concept of the term ecotourism was presented, and he explained the reason why it is the most appropriate service, when properly planned, to be used in forest reserves.A field research with a class of basic school was carried out with the purpose of presenting proposals of pedagogical use for Urban Forests. By means of questionnaires, samples were collected to acquire a sense of the image that the residents have towards the reserves. Interviews with part of the Environmental managerswere used to understand how the administration of these spaces works and discovery if they have practices of the so-called Environmental Education and which planning models will be used in the long term. The results showed that the social constructions around these reserves resulted in differences in interpretation, both by the government and by the residents, in the areas where a development was established there is a greater concern for the maintenance, in the meantime , When they are located near areas of social vulnerability, there is apparently little interest in tourism promotion. In relation to the residents, it was verified that the greater the participation of the communities in the activities carried out, the greater the degree of understanding regarding the existing benefits with the maintenance and the need of the preservation. / A dissertação consiste em um estudo realizado em reservas de mata atlânticas de três capitais do Nordeste brasileiro, sendo elas, João Pessoa-PB, Maceió - AL e Natal – RN. Utilizou-se o termo “Matas Urbanas” para identificar áreas florestais localizadas em centros urbanos. O objetivo do trabalho foi entender de qual maneira as populações dessas regiões interagem com esses espaços. Buscou-se também, identificar similaridades, diferença potencialidades para cada unidade e descobrir como podem ser instrumentos para práticas de Educação Ambiental e Ecoturismo. Através de pesquisas a respeito do movimento ambientalista e seus desdobramentos foram elaboradas reflexões sobre o que seria uma utilização sustentável para as reservas. Contextualizou-se questões a respeito da atividade turística e seu potencial para a economia local. Apresentou-se o conceito do termo ecoturismo, e porque o mesmo é o segmento turístico mais apropriado, quando corretamente planejado, a ser utilizado em reservas florestais. Uma pesquisa de campo com uma turma do ensino básico foi realizada com o objetivo de apresentar propostas de utilização pedagógica para Matas Urbanas. Por meio de questionários foram coletadas amostras para adquirir noção percepção que os moradores possuem para com as reservas. Entrevistas com parte dos gestores ou responsáveis foram utilizadas para entender como funciona a administração desses espaços, se possuem práticas de Educação Ambiental e que modelos de planejamento serão utilizados a longo prazo. Os resultados demonstraram que as percepções sociais ao redor dessas reservas resultaram em diferenças em relação a interpretação, tanto por parte do governo como por parte dos moradores. Nas áreas onde estabeleceu-se um desenvolvimento percebe-se uma maior preocupação para com a manutenção, entretanto, quando localizam-se próximo a áreas de vulnerabilidade social, aparentemente existe pouco interesse em promoção turística. Em relação aos moradores, constatou-se que quanto maior a participação das comunidades para com as atividades realizadas, maior será o grau de entendimento em relação aos benefícios existentes com a manutenção e a necessidade da preservação.
