The work aims to analyse the changes that happen in the lives of families who take part in the Bolsa Família Aid Program in the municipality of Santa Vitória do Palmar-RS, thus we intended through interviews, to which it was applied the technique of Content Analysis, point out the main alterations in the lives of the beneficiaries of the Bolsa Família Aid Program in what concerns the relation of the families with school; evidence the permanence and productivity of children and adolescents in school and identify the view and possible actions of the teachers in relation to the students who belong to families that receive Bolsa Família aid. The work is based on dense bibliographic review in which we present the thought currents of the Minimum Income Garantee Programs, the debate concerning Citizenship, the dichotomy Right vs Aid, as well as issues referring to work and Social Politics. Besides that, this dissertation presents the results of a field work carried out in September 2007 in two poor neighbourhoods, of the mentioned municipality, called Vila Jacinto and Vila Nova. Twenty beneficiaries were interviewed, being ten from each neighbourhood, as well as a group of six teachers who deal with families from both neighbourhoods. With the beneficiaries the objective of the interview was to draw ther opinions concerning the BFAP, and above all, investigate the changes in their relations with school, as well as the alterations in their quality of life. The interview with teachers aimed to know, principally, if there was change in the behaviour and/or in the quality of the school activities practised by students who belong to families that started to receive the Bolsa Família Aid, and also, in the relation of those families with school, as well as the opinion of teachers about the program / Esta dissertação é requisito para a conclusão do curso de Mestrado em Política Social da Universidade Católica de Pelotas e está vinculada a Linha de Pesquisa: Política Social, Processos Participativos e Trabalho Social. O trabalho visa analisar as mudanças que acontecem na vida das famílias que participam do Programa Bolsa Família na cidade de Santa Vitória do Palmar-RS, assim pretendemos através de entrevistas, as quais foram aplicadas a técnica Análise de Conteúdo apontar as principais alterações na vida dos beneficiários do Programa Bolsa Família, no que diz respeito à relação das famílias com a escola; evidenciar a permanência e o rendimento das crianças e adolescentes na escola e identificar a visão e possíveis ações dos professores em relação aos alunos pertencentes a famílias que recebem o Bolsa Família. O trabalho se assenta em uma densa revisão bibliográfica onde apresentamos as correntes de pensamento dos Programas de Garantia de Renda Mínima, o debate sobre Cidadania, a dicotomia direito X ajuda, além de questões referentes ao trabalho e a Política Social. Além disso, esta dissertação apresenta os resultados de um trabalho de campo realizado no mês de setembro de 2007 em dois bairros pobres da cidade em questão, denominados de Vila Jacinto e Vila Nova. Foram entrevistados vinte beneficiários, sendo dez de cada bairro, assim como um grupo de seis professores de escolas que atendem as famílias pertencentes a estes bairros. Com os beneficiários o objetivo da entrevista foi o de extração de suas opiniões a respeito do PBF e, sobretudo, a averiguação de mudanças na sua relação com a escola, assim como alterações na sua qualidade de vida. Já a entrevista com os professores visou saber, principalmente, se houve mudança no comportamento e/ou na qualidade das atividades escolares praticadas pelos alunos que são de famílias que passaram a receber a Bolsa Família e, também, na relação destas famílias com a escola, assim como a opinião dos professores sobre o programa
