Muntligt motivation i ämnet samhällskunskap : En kvalitativ undersökning om lärares föreställningar om samtalsmotivation i ämnet samhällskunskap / Motivation of conversation in social studies : A qualitative study of teachers' perceptions of conversational motivation in social studies

Nilsson, Oscar January 2021 (has links)
To converse is to speak and to speak is to bring forward an opinion. An opinion is a prerequisite for the democratic society and moreover a crucial task for the school is to awaken the willingness of students to express their opinion. The purpose of this essay is therefore to study teachers who teach social studies perceptions of motivation and thereafter the motivation of conversation. It is done with interviews based on the theory of interactive motivation and that of motivational conversations. The method for this essay is a semi structured conversation analysis and the questions asked will be based on that of the interactive motivation and that of motivational conversations. During the interviews teachers expressed their perception of motivation as interests, goals and awakening the student’s inner drive to perform on different subjects in school including that of conversation. The conclusion of this essay is that teacher’s perception of motivation of conversation relate to the theory of interactive motivation and that of motivational conversations on almost all points. However, to roll with resistance is one of the points where teachers struggle where they instead of providing alternative method of conversation, provide methods that ignores conversations and therefore hinders the development and growth of student’s willingness to converse in the classroom.
