Přehrávač MP3 souborů v FPGA / FPGA-based MP3 player

Náplava, Tomáš January 2012 (has links)
This work deals with the design and implementation of a hardware unit that is capable of playing MPEG-1 Layer III files, compliant with ISO/IEC 11172-3. There are given the benefits of using the MP3 format and principles that make it possible to compress the size of the resulting music recordings. The file format and all parts of the header are thoroughly studied as well as the method of encoding information. The process of the data decoding is divided into several consecutive, more or less discrete functional units and these units are designed and described in a hardware description language VHDL. There are also discussed features of FPGA chips - programmable gate arrays. Those are used for physical realization of the MP3 player. A development board is selected, including such an FPGA chip and other resources that allow synthesis of the entire circuit and playback in real time.

Wearable Personal Data Information Capture System

Shi, Jiangpeng 17 December 2004 (has links)
This thesis is motivated by development of The Wearable Personal Data Information Capture System (WPDICS), which is used to support the "physical" data stream requirement on a person as they experience daily life, including visual and audio information. To fit the acquirement of "wearable", the system should be very tiny in size and very low cost. Our purpose is to conduct a feasibility analysis for WPDICS using commercially available components (Sharp Zaurus SL 5600 Linux PDA) and evaluate the acquisition of "physical" data streams grabbed by this component. In the thesis, we also develop some software test the data acquisition, especially audio and visual data.

Piratkopiering bland elever : Hot eller möjlighet

Karlsson, Jimmy, Forsell, Jens January 2005 (has links)
Piracy is today highly topical, not least because of the proposal of a harder copyright law, which would mean that all downloading of copyrighted material would be illegal. In this report we have by the help of a survey and various literature examined students between 13 and 30 years and their view on and use of pirated material. With the aim of reaching a conclusion on whether piracy is widespread among students or not, and if it is the reason why they pirate music and movies. Hopefully the answers acquired from this survey will lead us to a conclusion on what producers, of music and movies, can do in order to attract consumers to pay for their products and prevent piracy. The result reached by this report is that piracy is very widespread amongst students, irrespective of sex and age. The reason why it is widespread is that the prices are too high for a student to afford, as well as the availability of the products. It was also evident that the knowledge about laws was insufficient, and the respect for it low. The lack of an effective distribution channel of music and movies in today’s society is clear and the respondents from the survey thinks that it is reasonable to for example choose which songs that you want to buy from an album without having to pay for all the songs. Price and availability is tightly connected and a more effective distribution channel would most probably mean a lower price. As proven by Apple and their iTunes Music Store around the world. Sweden is ready for a similar service.

Effect of MP3 Use on CD Consumption Behavior

Deng, Yan-Ru 23 June 2000 (has links)
Today, more and more Websites provide digital music with MP3 formats on the Internet. MP3 is a format that can compress the digital files. Without this format the music program would be overlarge, and the small transmission capacity of the World Wide Web would be insufficient to support such a device. With this technological improvement, the consumers will be benefited from the conveniency of MP3, while the records companies would be threatened by the challenge confronted with the music industry. On the one hand, MP3 may reduce the sales of CDs in the market. On the other hand, it may help bring about various advantages for the record companies in terms of decreasing the marketing cost. This thesis aims to discuss the effect of the use of MP3 on CD consumption behavior by surveying the users of the MP3 Websites. The research is based on a well-designed questionnaire on the Internet. Through the promotion in thirteen days, it is received 1532 reply of the questionnaire, and there are 1293 entities considered to be valid samples for the study. The result shows that the correlation between the MP3 use and the CD consumption behavior is positive. That is to say, the users who spend longer time in MP3 Websites will buy more CDs. The more the use frequency of MP3 Websites is, the more the frequency of CD consumption. By comparing those who bought CDs with those who did not during the past twelve months, we find that the former spend longer time in MP3 Websites. To analyze the consumer's recognition about the influence of MP3 use on CD consumption behavior, our study shows that the consumers think the MP3 Websites use will not effect the CD consumption behavior. It further demonstrates an increasing tendency that the more CDs the consumers purchase, the less influence they think of the MP3 use. Therefore, according to the research, the conclusion of this thesis stands to argue that the use of MP3 Websites will not reduce the CD sales, but rather the records companies may take great advantages of it by promoting the CD market through the performance of MP3 in the Internet.
