O piano é instrumento que também tem história no panorama musical desse estado, mas não se evidencia, em sua linguagem, uma linha de desenvolvimento tendo como base as matrizes musicais pernambucanas. Esse trabalho inicialmente discorre sobre aspectos históricos e estilísticos característicos de três dessas matrizes: o maracatu nação, o frevo e a ciranda. Em um segundo momento aborda a história da música pernambucana para piano, apresenta cinco novas composições de música popular instrumental para piano, baixo e bateria, realizadas sobre essas matrizes e finalmente discute os processos criativos envolvidos nessas obras por meio de registros em partitura e gravações de áudio / Abstract: Pernambuco¿s cultural life is strongly based on folk movements, and there is a large number of them in activity by now. The piano is part of the music history of that State, but there aren¿t evidences of a particular language developed on this instrument based on local musical sources. First this work discusses about historical and stylistic aspects of three of these sources: the maracatu nação, the frevo and the ciranda; then it gives an historical overview of piano music in Pernambuco. Finally, it discusses the creative processes envolved in the elaboration of five new compositions for piano with accompaniment, supported by the use of scores and audio recordings / Mestrado / Mestre em Música
