Controle ótimo aplicado em modelo de suspensão veicular não-linear controlada através de amortecedor magneto-reológico / Application of optimal control in model of nonlinear vehicular suspension controlled through magneto-rheological damper

Tusset, Ângelo Marcelo January 2008 (has links)
This work presents a proposal for control of vehicular suspension using the magneto-rheological damper, the proposed control is composed by association of two control strategy, the optimal control and the fuzzy control. The optimal control is used to determine the power to be applied by the magneto-rheological damper, and the fuzzy control is used to determine the electric current to be used in the magneto-rheological damper and is obtained considering the Mandani's model. For the fuzzy control two inputs are considered, the velocity of the piston's damper and the force provided by the optimal control, and one output, the electric current [A]. To demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed control, computational simulations are considered using a nonlinear mathematical model for a quarter-car. The performance of the control is analyzed considering excitements provoked by irregularities in the track, the irregularities are represented by entrances step type, pulse and sinusoidal. The computational simulations are performed using the Matlab® and the Simulink. The results of simulations show that the proposed control increases the vehicle security and improves the drive ability by reducing the vertical wheel displacement and the workspace to be used by the damper when compared to the passive system. It also helps with the comfort of passengers, reducing the bodywork oscillations, maintaining levels of accelerating below considered uncomfortable by standard BS 6841, 1987. To verify the behavior of the proposed control, in the face of uncertainty, computational simulations are carried out, considering the possibility of parametric errors. The simulations, show that the Optimal Control, even when subject to uncertainties, remains stable and optimal.

Analitical study of the Schönbucher-Wilmott model of the feedback effect in illiquid markets

Mikaelyan, Anna January 2009 (has links)
<p>This master project is dedicated to the analysis of one of the nancialmarket models in an illiquid market. This is a nonlinear model. Using analytical methods we studied the symmetry properties of theequation which described the given model. We called this equation aSchonbucher-Wilmott equation or the main equation. We have foundinnitesimal generators of the Lie algebra, containing the informationabout the symmetry group admitted by the main equation. We foundthat there could be dierent types of the unknown function g, whichwas located in the main equation, in particular four types which admitsricher symmetry group. According to the type of the function gthe equation was split up into four PDEs with the dierent Lie algebrasin each case. Using the generators we studied the structure ofthe Lie algebras and found optimal systems of subalgebras. Then weused the optimal systems for dierent reductions of the PDE equationsto some ODEs. Obtained ODEs were easier to solve than the correspondingPDE. Thereafter we proceeded to the solution of the desiredSchonbucher-Wilmott equation. In the project we were guided by thepapers of Bank, Baum [1] and Schonbucher, Wilmott [2]. In these twopapers authors introduced distinct approaches of the analysis of thenonlinear model - stochastic and dierential ones. Both approaches leadunder some additional assumptions to the same nonlinear equation - the main equation.</p>

Estimation of Inter-Cell Interference in 3G Communication Systems

Gunning, Dan, Jernberg, Pontus January 2011 (has links)
In this thesis the telecommunication problem known as inter-cell interference is examined. Inter-cell interference originates from users in neighboring cells and affects the users in the own cell. The reason that inter-cell interference is interesting to study is that it affects the maximum data-rates achievable in the 3G network. By knowing the inter-cell interference, higher data-rates can be scheduled without risking cell-instability. An expression for the coupling between cells is derived using basic physical principles. Using the expression for the coupling factors a nonlinear model describing the inter-cell interference is developed from the model of the power control loop commonly used in the base stations. The expression describing the coupling factors depends on the positions of users which are unknown. A quasi decentralized method for estimating the coupling factors using measurements of the total interference power is presented. The estimation results presented in this thesis could probably be improved by using a more advanced nonlinear filter, such as a particle filter or an Extended Kalman filter, for the estimation. Different expressions describing the coupling factors could also be considered to improve the result.

Approche quasi-systématique du contrôle de la chaîne d’air des moteurs suralimentés, basée sur la commande prédictive non linéaire explicite / Quasi-systematic control design approach for turbocharged engines air path, based on explicit nonlinear model predictive control

El Hadef, Jamil 22 January 2014 (has links)
The hundreds of millions of passenger cars and other vehicles on our roads emphasize our society’s reliance on internal combustion engines. Despite striking progress in terms of pollutant emissions and fuel consumption, gasoline and diesel engines remain one of the most important sources of air pollution in modern urban areas. This leads the authorities to lay down increasingly drastic pollutant emission standards, which entail ever more complex engine technical definitions. In particular, due to an increasing number of actuators in the past few years, the air path of internal combustion engines represents one of the biggest challenges of engine control design. The present thesis addresses this issue of increasing engine complexity with respect to the continuous reduction in development time, dictated by a more and more competitive globalized market. The proposal consists in a three-step approach that combines physics-based engine modeling, nonlinear model predictive control and multi-parametric nonlinear programming. The latter leads to an explicit piecewise affine feedback control law, compatible with a real-time implementation. The proposed approach is applied to the particular case of the control of the air path of a turbocharged gasoline engine. Overall, the developments presented in this thesis provide a quasi-systematic approach for the synthesis of the control of the air path of turbocharged gasoline engines. Intuitively, this approach can be extended to other control loops in both gasoline and diesel engines.

Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for a Managed Pressure Drilling with High-Fidelity Drilling Simulators

Park, Junho 01 April 2018 (has links)
The world's energy demand has been rapidly increasing and is projected to continue growing for at least the next two decades. With increasing global energy demand and competition from renewable energy, the oil and gas industry is striving for more efficient petroleum production. Many technical breakthroughs have enabled the drilling industry to expand the exploration to more difficult drilling such as deepwater drilling and multilateral directional drilling. For example, managed pressure drilling (MPD) offers ceaseless operation with multiple manipulated variables (MV) and wired drill pipe (WDP) provides two-way, high-speed measurements from bottom hole and along-string sensors. These technologies have maximum benefit when applied in an automation system or as a real-time advisory tool. The objective of this study is to investigate the benefit of nonlinear model-based control and estimation algorithms with various types of models. This work presents a new simplified flow model (SFM) for bottomhole pressure (BHP) regulation in MPD operations. The SFM is embedded into model-based control and estimation algorithms that use model predictive control (MPC) and moving horizon estimation (MHE), respectively. This work also presents a new Hammerstein-Wiener nonlinear model predictive controller for BHP regulation. Hammerstein-Wiener models employ input and output static nonlinear blocks before and after linear dynamics blocks to simplify the controller design. The control performance of the new Hammerstein-Wiener nonlinear controller is superior to conventional PID controllers in a variety of drilling scenarios. Conventional controllers show severe limitations in MPD because of the interconnected multivariable and nonlinear nature of drilling operations. BHP control performance is evaluated in scenarios such as drilling, pipe connection, kick attenuation, and mud density displacement and the efficacy of the SFM and Hammerstein-Wiener models is tested in various control schemes applicable to both WDP and mud pulse systems. Trusted high-fidelity drilling simulators are used to simulate well conditions and are used to evaluate the performance of the controllers using the SFM and Hammerstein-Wiener models. The comparison between non-WDP (semi-closed loop) and WDP (full-closed loop) applications validates the accuracy of the SFM under the set of conditions tested and confirms comparability with model-based control and estimation algorithms. The SFM MPC maintains the BHP within ± 1 bar of the setpoint for each investigated scenario, including for pipe connection and mud density displacement procedures that experience a wider operation range than normal drilling.

Naveau, Maximilien 28 September 2016 (has links)
This thesis covers the topic of humanoid robot locomotion in the frame of the European project KoroiBot. The goal of this project is to enhance the ability of humanoid robots to walk in a dynamic and versatile fashion as humans do. Research and innovation studies in KoroiBot rely on optimal control methods both for the identification of cost functions used by human being and for their implementations on robots owned by roboticist partners. Hence, this thesis includes fruitful collaborations with both control mathematicians and experts in motion primitive modeling. The main contributions of this PhD thesis lies in the design of new real time controllers for humanoid robot locomotion with our partners from the University of Heidelberg and their integration on the HRP-2 robot. Two controllers will be shown, one allowing multi-contact locomotion with a prior knowledge of the future contacts. And the second is an extension of a previous work improving performance and providing additional functionalities. In a collaboration with experts in human motion we designed an innovating controller for tracking cyclic trajectories of the center of mass. We also show a whole body controller using upper body movement primitives extracted from human behavior and lower body movement computed by a walking pattern generator. The results of this thesis have been integrated into the LAAS-CNRS "Stack-of-Tasks" software suit.
