Deluga(1994) pointed out in the Basis of Faith, the staff believed that if they work hard, the organization or manager can feedback it. So the organizational citizenship behavior is increasing. So how to increasing organizational citizenship behavior is rather important at present. The study uses the characteristics of medical organization, nurses as independent variable, organizational commitment, job satisfaction as intermediate variable, organizational citizenship behavior as dependent variable. We use questionnaire, data analysis to study 1357 nurses. The statistics are as follows: reliability analysis, validity analysis, factor analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis to probe the relation of all the variables. The results showed that: 1.Organizational commitment has a positive impact on job satisfaction. 2.The higher the feeling of commitment of the staff, the trustworthier they are. 3.To stand fast of the responsibility in director evaluation is higher than the staff self-evaluation, but there is no correlation. 4.Organizational commitment and job satisfaction is higher in staffs that are older than 40 years old and the past service more than 10 years. It is also negative impact with benefit others of the director evaluation. 5.The higher organizational commitment, the higher job satisfaction and competency satisfaction of the director in senior high school staff. 6.There is no difference of standing fast of the responsibility, organization commonwealth behavior between director evaluation and staff self-evaluation in those who on night duty and nil. 7.As regards marriage, organizational citizenship behavior is higher in married than unmarried in staff self-evaluation. 8.Moral commitment and persistent commitment is lower in unmarried than married. Those staff who married without children is trust worthier of their director. They also show better behavior when they have been given other benefits. 9.Organization commonwealth behavior of staff self-evaluation has a positive impact on director evaluation but there is no significance. It is also positive impact with director's faith. 10.Organizational citizenship behavior of director evaluation has positive impact and more predictor with director's faith. From our study, we demonstrated organizational citizenship behavior; Self-recognition and evaluation of directors in nursing are consistency. So we suggest that nursing will reach the coherence by nursing professional innovation system, formal hereditary responsibility system and other effective communication. Auxiliares de enfermagem de uma unidade de agudos de um hospital especializado em psiquiatria: sua visão sobre a prática profissional e a clientela atendida / Nursing personnel in na acute unit in a psychiatry specialized hospital: their concepts on practices and clients

Vieira, Fernanda de Sousa 03 September 2012 (has links)
It\'s well known that the mental health knowledge field is complex and inter sectorial. Many studies about the mental health patient, in Brazil, have revealed that although there was a change in the psychiatric treatment, still there is patients rights violations, and the feeling in the attention group is of certain hopelessness and lack of knowledge in dealing with the patient. This work aims to explore a masculine and feminine acute unit nursing personnel, in a psychiatry specialized hospital in the inner State of São Paulo, from the point of view of their work. More specifically, it\'s intended to know, from their own perspective their professional pathways and education, the institutional context and their everyday practices concerning work and clients. Eleven nursing professionals were interviewed through \"thematic life history\" interview. Those interviews were taped and integrally transcript and analyzed qualitatively. The analysis showed their life pathways, influences of their personal lives on work, professional education, work routine, support on psychiatric patients and the patient\'s family concepts. It\'s considered that it\'s important to promote reflection, discussion and hearing spaces among mental health professionals, in the work setting, with those who deal directly with the patient and the whole team so it\'s possible to discuss on every day practices, transcend to them relating to personal life repercussions, promoting support for work.

The lived experience of aggression and violence by nurses in a Gauteng psychiatric institution

24 May 2010 (has links)
M.Cur. / Violence and aggression in psychiatric hospitals are a worldwide known phenomenon. South Africa is no exception to the rule. Previous researches conducted in psychiatric institutions have mainly focused on the patients, leaving everyone to guess how this violence affects nurses who are in contact with the patients on a daily basis and who are key role-players in the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of the patients under their responsibility. The research aimed to explore and describe the lived experience of aggression and violence by the registered nurses in a Gauteng psychiatric institution, the essence of this violence, and how nurses cope with this violence, in order to formulate guidelines and recommendations that could assist them to manage violence. A qualitative, explorative, descriptive, and contextual study design was utilised. Data was collected by means of semi-structured interviews, and naïve sketches. Tesch’s method was used for data analysis, here and an independent coder was utilised. The uniqueness of this study was to bring to the surface the other side of violence as it is perceived and lived by the nurses. The findings show that the nurses face violence on a daily basis. Among the contributing factors there are: the type of patients admitted in the hospital; the staff shortage; the lack of support among the members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT); and the lack of structured and comprehensive orientation. The consequences of this violence to the nurses are emotional, psychological, and physical and take the form of: fear, anger, frustration, despair, hopelessness and helplessness, substance abuses, absenteeism, retaliation, a development of an “I don’t care attitude”, injuries, and damage to personal properties such as clothes, and spectacles.
