No. of bitstreams: 1 PDF - Maria Ellem Souza Maciel.pdf: 1911248 bytes, checksum: 5f82b0334dcd365af01f071aaee05237 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-05-23 / Universidade Estadual da Paraíba / The literary work of Murilo Rubião is clearly dedicated to the fantastic. In this study we will perform an analysis of his short story O pirotécnico Zacarias from that inherent and undeniable characteristic, but searching for elements of discussion that enrich it, as long as it can be considered a catalyst of historical, social and psychoanalytic aspects. Therefore, we will conduct a survey of theoretical and analytical nature wich will include, in its first chapter, a brief introduction of the fantastic, its presence in literature and its theoretical evolution throughout the twentieth century, mainly going through the theories of Alazraki (2001), Furtado (1980), Roas (2001), Sartre (2005), Todorov (2008) and Vax (1965). In the second chapter we will enter in the work of Murilo Rubião, when we will present informations about the reception of his short stories by Brazilian critics and about the specific characteristics of his work, important example of the contemporary fantastic. Here, it is important to point out that we will use the teachings of Candido (2011), Goulart (1995), Lins (1948) and Schwartz (1981). In the third chapter we will present a commented reading of O pirotécnico Zacarias, where we will privilege, in a first moment, the (de) construction of the identity of Zacarias as the narrator and the analysis of the symbols present throughout the short story. In the final topic of discussion we will expand the put short story hypotheses, as long as we insert the short story in a context of analysis that goes beyond its limits as an artistic and literary expression based on the texts of Albuquerque Junior (2007), Bastos (2013), Chevalier e Gheerbrant (2012), Eagleton (2006) and Foucault (2010).
