Psychometric Properties of the Life Orientation Test-Revised in an University Sample from Lima Metropolitan
The study analyses the psychometric properties of the Inventory Vital (LOT-R) of Scheier, et al., (1994), in a group of 302 students from Lima, Perú, from both sexes and whose ages fluctuate between 16 and 30 years of age. The instruments used were HHS-R IDARE-R and BDI-II in order to determine the convergent validity of the Life Orientation Test-Revised (LOT-R). Results show moderated reliability indexes. The factorial structure was two-dimensional with two factors with a 53.92% of explained variance. A .54 coefficient for the whole test and a 0.55 for each of the areas of the test. The correlation between the Life Orientation Test-Revised and the Hope Scale resulted positive, high and significant and between the anxiety and depression inventory were negative, moderated and significatives, thus confirming the validity convergent and divergent, alsothe reliability of the inventory for similar populations. / Tesis

The present study investigated the relationship between parental stress levels and optimism levels in a group of 33 parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who assisted to an education center specialized in the management of autism spectrum disorder, considering the influence of socio-demographic factors (age, sex, etc.) and disease factors (psychological treatment and medication). They completed a questionnaire to measure parental stress (PSI-SF) and another to identify their predominant orientation to life (optimism or pessimism) (LOT-R). We found high levels of parental stress in both the total scale and each of their domains. The parents from Lima had a higher level of stress to assess their expectations about the achievements of their children and the reinforcements they receive from them in their roles as caregivers. Also, the parents of daughters felt more concern about their ability to control the behavior of their children. On the other hand, about the orientation in life, it was found that a higher percentage of parents have low optimism. Finally, the overall degree of perceived parental optimism correlates positively with the area of Dysfunctional Parent-Child Interaction and with the total score of parental stress in the sample. / Tesis

afrontamiento negación (r=.37, p=.01), y enfocar y liberar emociones (r=.28, p=.04).
The purpose of the study was to describe the correlations between coping strategies and
dispositional optimism in a sample of 51 women patients with breast cancer, between
the ages of 30 and 65 years (M=53.25, SD=8.60) who received ambulatory attention in a
specialized oncological public Institution in Lima. The instruments used included the
COPE Inventory, created by Carver, Scheier and Weintraub (1989) and adapted by
Cassaretto and Chau (2016); and the Life Orientation Test-Revised (LOT-R) inventory
of Scheier, Carver and Bridges (1994), in the Spanish version of Otero, Luengo,
Romero, Gómez and Castro (1998) and adapted by Oliden (2013) in Peruvian context.
The results show significant and direct correlation between optimism and coping
strategies denial (r=.37, p=.01), and focus and release emotions (r=.28, p=.04).
Likewise, we found a significant and direct correlation between the time elapsed since diagnosis
and the coping strategy planning (r=.32, p=.02). This research analyzes the possible
explanations for the findings, contributing to the importance of studying psychological
factors involved in the ways women with breast cancer deal with the disease. / Tesis
