Organizational and cultural dimensions of international alliances : Study of two joint-ventures in the Algerian context.

Touri, Rosa 07 December 2016 (has links)
This work of doctoral research aims to examine the interactions between multinationals, Algerian companies and their common firms and identify the impact on the structure and culture developed within it. It also aims to examine the characteristics of the structure and culture of international dyadic alliances and understand their specificities in the Algerian context. Finally, another objective it is reviewing the decision model in the alliance and the identification of the roles of the joint venture, the local parent and the multinational. To do this we assume acknowledged, in literature, stipulating that multinational position of strength, seek to impose their structure model to the common firm and develop their own culture within it. They also seek to dominate the relationship and centralize all decisions. From a study of two alliances, one found in the hotel sector with a French multinational and the other found in the pharmaceutical sector with a US multinational, we demonstrate that these theoretical findings, are only partially confirmed within the studied alliances. This research is inserted into field work with a study of both qualitative and quantitative, on the Algerian territory, where no similar studies have been conducted, to our knowledge. We demonstrate that the multinational imposes its organizational model, but fails to fully develop its common culture within the alliance. We also demonstrate that multinationals dominate certain managerial decisions and share more with the local partner. And when the multinational is trying to dominate the whole, competitive retaliation may be considered by the ally and touch his interests. We also cleared, the characteristics of the structure and culture of international alliances studied in Algerian context. On the other hand, the study of international dyadic alliances Algerian context; seems to reveal the existence of differences in behavior of the alliance, depending on the status of "public" or "private" of the local parent.

Organizational Culture Change in Agile Transformations - Leaders Supporting Agile Mindset Adoption

Laga El Kassimi, Reda, Sandulescu, Stefan Ioan January 2023 (has links)
Agile methodologies have gained popularity for their ability to help companies respond quickly to changing environments and customer needs. However, organizations often struggle with adopting agile methodologies due to their focus on implementing specific frameworks rather than fostering an agile mindset in their organizational culture. Therefore, it is important to promote an agile mindset within organizations and gradually embed it into their culture. This thesis aims to explore how organizational leaders can support the agile mindset adoption. After a thorough review of the relevant literature, the study collected empirical data via interviews with leaders, agile experts and professionals with extensive experience in agile environments to identify practical approaches to support the adoption of an agile mindset that may require an organizational culture transformation. Overall, the outcome of this study contributed to increasing the chances to realize the benefits of agile transformations by fostering the agile mindset.

A GESTÃO AMBIENTAL ENTRE O DISCURSO LEGITIMADOR E PRÁTICAS INSTRUMENTAIS

Oliveira, Alberto de 25 June 2007 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-07-27T14:21:26Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Alberto de Oliveira.pdf: 694296 bytes, checksum: 121b23beaa5f69c73881e5ea75b0903a (MD5) Previous issue date: 2007-06-25 / The scope of this study was to gather data on the how environment managers perceive their activity. Theoretical basis on environment managing was sought, observing its history; the development of environmental organizations in Brazil and abroad; factors and progresses in the global context, and samples of environmental managing from the Environment Management System (EMS). It consists of a case study of both descriptive and exploratory character focusing on the perceptions of environment managers graduated from three classes of lato sensu post-graduation course in Environment management management processes and on the interface of their praxis on their field of work. Two studies were carried out. The first aimed to present the course taken, and the second raised their perception on environment management and their interfaces with organizations, as graduated from the course. Data were collected from documental analysis and semistructured interview. In study 1 one of the coordinators of the course was intentionally chosen, as well as six other professors. Such choices were made due to their influence on forming the referred professionals, from candidate selection to the final monograph of the course. On this study the categories of the perceptions (of the coordinator/professors) on Environment Management . On study 2, also intentionally, nine managers were chosen based on their academic background and the fact of living and working in the same town of the course. On this study he categories of perceptions on Environment Management; support from organization towards managers and applicability of what was learned on their formation . After tabulation and analysis of data it was possible to conclude that environmental education, conducted by an organization representing industry businessmen in Goiás, is submerged in several contradictions, for environment preservation is incompatible with profit interests of the capitalistic production system. Also, the mechanicist model of formal education does not interpret the environmental complexity, which embraces nature, culture, society and politic dimension. The results of this study point that the priority to profits, given by the organizations, leads to insensitivity concerning the environment, whilst the graduated professionals lack the power to intervene on the industries. Such industries especially those of exporting goods only follow legal policies and invest on their image among consumers. The course on the professionals lives was vital on their technical establishment on the field of work; however it seemed distant in forming a critical sight of their role on the organization. If strengthened by a critical educational model, civil society, aware of its active role, may become a viable alternative to put pressure into the hegemonic power constituted by businessmen, politicians of executive, legislative and judiciary powers, forcing the Public Ministers to actually perform their social role.
