Efficacy of zoalene and clopidol in dogs experimentally infected with Isospora canisBrown, James Carson 01 August 1976 (has links)
Isospora canis (Protozoa:Nemeseri, 1959) is an important coccidian parasite of domestic dogs. Ingestion of the sporulated oocysts causes the release of sporozoites which invade the epithe-lial lining of the intestine. Schizogony and gametogony take place in the epithelial tissue resulting in a massive proliferation of the parasite and extensive destruction of the intestinal cells (Lepp and Todd, 1974). Severe infections cause loss of appetite, diarrhea and dysentery (Levine, 1973).

Comparative effects of carbon dioxide on coccidian oocysts from five different host speciesBunch, Thomas David 01 August 1969 (has links)
Excystation, as applied to the coccidia, is the process by which sporozoites are released from sporocysts and oocysts. Although this process has long been a subject of interest and study, there still remains considerable disagreement among investigators as to the mechanism by which the process occurs and the factors which are involved.

Parasites of fishes from the San Joaquin DeltaHensley, Gary Herndon 01 January 1974 (has links)
The purpose of the present study was to extend previous parasitological investigations of the San Joaquin area fishes. This study did not deal with a specific group of fish or parasite, but rather all groups of fishes and parasites encountered. As the amount of work done in California has not been extensive, more research will contribute to our understanding of these fishes and their parasites.
