The event was organized by the Student Academic Center Santo Tomás de Aquino. MUSIPUC brought new perspective to musicians in Porto Alegre, as it acted as a venue for the exhibit of pop music songs. The festival was virtually the only one in that category at the time. Therefore, it became popular among artists seeking space for their talent. Upon the launching of the radio program Vivendo a Vida de Lee [Living Lee’s Life] at the station Rádio Continental AM, MUSIPUC gained greater visibility and its participants were granted a slot during the radio’s program. Some musicians carried several performances in Rio Grande do Sul and the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná, thus reaching larger audience. As a result, many musicians who participated in the MUSIPUC became professionals and had the opportunity to record their LPs. Some have become known all over the country. / A presente pesquisa traz uma narrativa histórica do MUSIPUC, festival de música popular que ocorreu entre 1971 e 1978, em Porto Alegre, realizado nas dependências da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul e organizado pelo Centro Acadêmico Santo Tomás de Aquino. O MUSIPUC trouxe uma nova perspectiva aos músicos de Porto Alegre, sendo um espaço para a mostra de canções de música popular. O festival era, praticamente, único em sua categoria e tornou-se popular entre os artistas que buscavam espaço. Com o lançamento do programa Vivendo a Vida de Lee na Rádio Continental AM, o MUSIPUC ganhou maior visibilidade e seus participantes tiveram espaço na programação da rádio e, mais tarde, realizaram diversos shows pelo estado, e também em Santa Catarina e Curitiba, ganhando um público maior. Assim, muitos dos músicos participantes do MUSIPUC tornaram-se profissionais, tendo a possibilidade de gravar seus LPs, e alguns se tornaram conhecidos nacionalmente.
