The commercial propagation of the palm trees is by means of seeds being considered, in general, slow and uneven. Due to the ornamental and socioeconomic importance of these palm species and considering that the determination of the optimal temperature for the germination of the seeds will benefit the seedling production process, this work had as objective to evaluate the germination of the seeds of the palm trees Aiphanes aculeata and Wodyetia bifurcata in different temperature regimes. The experimental design was completely randomized. There were five treatments (temperatures), four replicates and 25 seeds / plot. The treatments were constant temperatures of 25 °C, 30 °C and 35 °C and alternating temperatures of 20-30 °C and 25-35 °C. The evaluations were done daily by noting the number of seeds with emission of the germinative button until stabilization; the percentage of germination, the Germination Speed Index (IVG) and the germination distribution over time were determined. The results obtained for percentage of germination and IVG were submitted to analysis of variance for comparison of means. The percentage germination data were previously transformed into sine (x / 100) 1/2 fl. The means were compared by the Tukey test at the 5% probability level. The temperature of 30ºC was the most suitable for the germination of A. aculeata seeds and 25-35ºC for W. bifurcata.
