The footprint of urban streets have become conflict zones of interests; ranging from efficient automobile infrastructure, building restriction lines, economical interests, shy efforts to introduce nature, services, etc. How can we, as urban designers, retrieve a portion of this footprint to nature by taking advantage of the existing public parking areas and create a network of streets that speaks to the larger park network? Can a neighborhood like Adams Morgan serve as an example for a collaborative design between private and public interests to enhance the potential of blue-green infrastructure? / Master of Science

Diploma thesis is concerned with problems of parking places in VUT FSI area, Technická 2, Brno. In introduction there are explained methods of parking, sorting and orientation proportions of vehicles. Then there are explained basic requirements for parking areas according to valid norms and rules. In this task there is analyzed original and actual status of parking. Before separating suggestions is finished calculation of required number of parking places. Solution of whole problems around parking places is in three projects. Results are compared in conclusion.

The subject of thesis is the reconstruction study of Jesenická Street in Šumperk. The study deals with a traffic connection of existing bus and train station. The part of study is also a solution of parking area. Based on traffic census, there were processed four variants, which were assessed in terms of traffic capacity.

The task of my diploma work is the study of the parking area on the motorway D1 near Vyškov. This place will be connected with the motorway D1 between the present exit Vyškov – West (226) and Vyškov – East (230/1) in the direction to Kroměříž. The parking area (the parking place, the petrol station, the restaurant) and the truckpark will be designed with the reason of the high intensity of cars and lorries on the motorway D1 and with the reason of the lack of the parking places for the lorries.
