O presente trabalho dedica-se ao estudo da relação entre o pensamento conservador e o Partido Republicano norte-americano com base na análise das plataformas nacionais de 1980 e 2012. Com base na construção de categorias referentes à política econômica, política externa e questões sociais, se busca verificar a presença de princípios conservadores nessas plataformas. A hipótese que orienta a pesquisa é que o Partido Republicano, em 2012, é mais conservador que em 1980. Em um primeiro momento, são apresentadas as raízes do conservadorismo norte-americano. A partir disso, são construídas as categorias de referência e, posteriormente, é realizada a análise das plataformas nacionais. A principal evidência é que o conservadorismo norte-americano está presente de modo desigual nas plataformas Republicanas com relação às categorias de análise. / The article, here presented, intends to study the relationship between the conservative thought and the north-American Republican Party based on the analysis of the 1980 and the 2012 national platforms. Based on the construction of categories relative to economy, foreign affairs and social policies, the study intends to verify the presence of conservative principles on these platforms. The hypothesis that guides this work is that the Republican Party, in 2012, is more conservative than in 1980. Firstly, the roots of the north-American conservative movement are presented. Afterwards, the categories mentioned are built and, lastly, the analysis on the national platforms is made. The main evidence is that the north-American conservative thought, with regards to the categories mentioned, is presented in different ways on the Republican platforms.
