The research was a field work, made by means of interviews and of narratives according to the methodology of the oral history, and was anchored to the works of ethnographers, mainly Geertz. Moreover, it was also based on the anthropo philosophic proposals made by Câmara Cascudo, looking for the uncommon inside the common. As we may consider the quilt as a pile of memories, it was possible, by choosing a few among so many patches, to define different periods, as well as categories such as, established and outsiders, conciliation and transformation historic urban and nonhistoric ones. In the second part of the work, the narrative is enriched with oil paintings on canvas which offer a new reading of some of the patches and their stories.
