The objective of this dissertation is to contribute to the peace studies in a double sense. Firstly, in a critical sense, with the purpose of deconstructing the idea of a logocentric, teleological and moralistic peace, accepting the existence of several domains of peace – in this dissertation, only two – which sustain themselves historically by an interconnection of knowledge, power and subjects. Secondly, in a historical sense, with the purpose of conducting a peace analysis from Westfalia to the present, through Michel Foucault’s archeogenealogical and ethical approach. In examining the westphalian domain of peace and the humanitarian domain of peace, we will put effort on highlighting the multiple forms of violence that are present in both domains.
