La presente investigación tiene como objetivo explorar las posibles relaciones entre el riesgo de consumo de drogas, las características de personalidad y las estrategias de afrontamiento en un grupo de 85 adolescentes infractores (M = 17.41 años de edad, DE = 1.18, 6% mujeres, 94% varones) no privados de la libertad en las ciudades de Lima y Huacho. La medición del consumo de drogas se llevó a cabo a través de la prueba Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test, las escalas de personalidad mediante el Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory, y las estrategias de afrontamiento por medio delAdolescent Coping Scale. Los resultados obtenidos revelaron que las escalas de personalidad rudo, conformista, oposicionista, inclinación al abuso de sustancias y sentimientos de ansiedad se relacionan directamente con el riesgo de consumo cocaína, mientras que tendencia al suicidio se relaciona directamente con el riesgo de consumo de tabaco. Las estrategias de afrontamiento concentrarse en resolver el problema, esforzarse y tener éxito, buscar diversiones relajantes, buscar pertenencia y buscar apoyo social se relacionan de manera inversa con el riesgo de consumo de marihuana. Se discuten las limitaciones de este estudio y las implicancias de sus resultados en términos de programas de tratamiento del uso de drogas. / The present research aims to explore the possible relationships between drug use risk, personality characteristics and coping strategies in a group of 85 non-detained young offenders (M = 17.41 years old, SD = 1.18, 6% females, 94% men) in the cities of Lima and Huacho. Measurement of drug use was carried out through the Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test, personality scales using the Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory, and coping strategies through the Adolescent Coping Scale. The results obtained revealed that the personality scales of rude, conformist, oppositionist, inclination to substance abuse and feelings of anxiety are directly related to the risk of cocaine consumption, whereas suicidal tendencies are directly related to the risk of smoking. Coping strategies focus on solving the problem, striving and succeeding, finding relaxing amusements, seeking membership and seeking social support are inversely related to the risk of marijuana use. We discuss the limitations of this study and the implications of its results in terms of drug treatment programs. / Tesis
