The area of investigation embraces the following places and their respective surroundings: Rua Pais Leme, Largo da Batata and Rua dos Pinheiros, which are also the sites where three subway stations of the yellow line touch the district. The arrival of this underground transportation combined with the big dimensions reformulation project for the Largo da Batata has boosted several changes during the first decades of the 2000’s. The commercial activities, the ways of living, socializing and consuming were passing through a visible process of reconfiguration, able to reinforce existent characteristics, besides bringing in new meanings to this region. At this context, the problem of the research concentrates on what remains from the previous identity of this neighborhood, of its recognizable characteristics from other times, and of what new ones are introduced in this process of transformation. These changes are seen and perceived through the rewriting procedures, reiterated in new practices of life, interactions and resignifications. These interactions are rewritten and dynamic, circulating among values of the past and the present, functional and subjective ones, global and locals. All this occurs in the relationship between subjects and also between subjects and the neighborhood and the metropolis where it lies. The diachronic approach of the corpus guaranteed analysing these series of changing, investigating the evolutions and not only a static moment. The premises of discursive semiotic proposed by A. J. Greimas and the meaning and interaction regimes by E. Landowski made possible to study the historic narrative of the district, the plastic rearrangements, the practices of life and, consequently, the rewriting procedures involved in this context. The systematic observation of the different parts of the studied region was carried on in order to reach a wider understanding of the movements in real time, besides making possible to dialogue with theories specifically related to the urban issues. Different from other researches related to the metropolis, generally under the urban or geographic questions, this investigation enquires about the interactions, the rewriting processes and values circulation in the city and also around the citizens. The result goes beyond the urban changings, identifying and enumerating the communicational procedures of resignification and permanence of the practices of life and values of the region through the executed reformulations, in the relationship with subjects, and also between neighborhood and the city where it lies. In this transition, the region projects itself in a new dimension for the city, with implications even in a international extent / O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar semioticamente as transformações recentes em um no bairro paulistano de Pinheiros. O recorte abrange as ruas e os arredores da Rua Pais Leme, o Largo da Batata e a Rua dos Pinheiros, locais por onde passam as três estações do metrô que cruzam o distrito. A chegada desse transporte subterrâneo, conjugada a um projeto de grandes dimensões de reformulação do Largo da Batata, impulsionou uma série de mudanças nas primeiras décadas dos anos 2000. As atividades comerciais, os modos de morar, de sociabilizar e consumir dessa região passam por um processo visível de reconfiguração, capaz de reforçar características existentes, além de aportar novos sentidos a ela. Nesse contexto, o problema da pesquisa se concentra no que permanece da identidade anterior do bairro, de suas características antes reconhecíveis, e o que de novo se insere nesse processo de transformação. Essas alterações são vistas e percebidas por meio de procedimentos de reescritura, reiterados em novas práticas de vida, interações e ressignificações. As interações que se reescrevem são dinâmicas, circulam entre valores do passado e presente, funcionais e subjetivos, globais e locais. Isso ocorre tanto na relação entre os sujeitos quanto naquela entre o bairro e a metrópole onde está inserido. A abordagem diacrônica do corpus garantiu analisar esses encadeamentos, investigando as evoluções e não apenas um momento estático. As premissas da semiótica discursiva proposta por A. J. Greimas e dos regimes de sentido e interação de E. Landowski possibilitaram o estudo da narrativa histórica do bairro, das reconfigurações plásticas, das práticas de vida e, em decorrência destas, dos procedimentos de reescritura envolvidos nesse contexto. A observação sistemática dos pontos da região foi realizada para uma compreensão abrangente das movimentações em tempo real, além de viabilizar o diálogo com teorias relacionadas à questão da urbanidade. Distinta de outras investigações relacionadas às metrópoles, geralmente circunscritas às questões urbanas ou geográficas, essa pesquisa problematiza questões acerca das interações, dos procedimentos de reescritura e da circulação de valores como indutoras de novas configurações do bairro, bem como seus impactos na própria cidade e nos cidadãos. O resultado vai além das transformações urbanas, identificando e elencando os processos comunicacionais de ressignificação e permanência de práticas de vida e valores da região por meio das reformulações executadas, seja na relação entre os sujeitos, seja na relação entre o bairro e a metrópole onde está inserido.
