some boys name themselves is a semi-autobiographical collection of poetry chronologizing the deaths and rebirths we experience in life. Starting with a journey into manhood and his own name, the collection follows a trans, mixed child from birth to adulthood. He attempts to uncover his feelings on his birthplace, his hometown, and his family, as well as his place within these spaces. Eventually, the poet must decide what to bury and what to revive.

It draws from relevant works of critical theory and poetry in order to propose a codification of disposability, what can and cannot be replaced in the anthropocene age. These explorations and propositions are filtered through the novel’s protagonist, Clarice, who endures a maximalist odyssey, through cityscape and landfill alike.
