On this sense, it will be pointed the relations between memory and literature, as well their points of contact with landscape. Furthermore, it will be approached questions about the 30’s novel, to locate the author and the work, that, for questions of anachronism doesn’t appear on regionalist canon, but, it has the characteristics of a regional novel and then to analyze the elements that compound the universe of memory presents on the work, to know: the babaçu coconut, the legends and folklore, the customs and traditions and the landscape. / A presente pesquisa consiste em analisar como a memória permeia o romance Por Onde Deus Não Andou, do escritor maranhense Godofredo Viana, a partir da compreensão do conceito de memória e seus desdobramentos enquanto um dos fios condutores da criação literária. Nesse sentido, serão apontadas as relações entre a memória e a literatura, bem como seus pontos de contato com a paisagem. Além disso, serão abordadas questões relativas ao romance de 30, a fim de localizar o autor e a obra, a qual, por questões de anacronismo não consta no cânone regionalista, porém, possui as características de um romance regional para então analisar os elementos que compõem o universo da memória presentes na obra, a saber: o coco babaçu, as lendas e o folclore, os costumes e as tradições e a paisagem.
