Implemention and Evaluation of a Differential GPS Based on Smartphones and Internet Technology

Lawrence, Lal Bosco January 2013 (has links)
This thesis evaluates a hypothesis about how to implement a low cost Differential GPS (DGPS) solution, able to find a current location with a precision almost as good as more expensive DGPS solution.  For this purpose two Smartphone’s are used, one used as a fixed reference station and another used as a roving receiver. The reference station calculates the temporary error at its location at every second and transmits these errors to a server over the internet.  The roving receiver requests to the server to get the latest error from the reference station over the internet. By using these errors or differences, the roving receiver finds a corrected location. The results are in the same range as dedicated DGPS solutions.

Brand analysis of the mark Fairtrade / Analýza značky "Fairtrade"

Němcová, Kristýna January 2011 (has links)
Fairtrade is a relatively young brand on the Czech market that is really interesting by its nature. The mark does not seek preferentially to maximize profits from the sale, but is interested in the ethical conduct of production of the goods in developing countries and fair rewarding today often disadvantaged workers and farmers. The aim of my thesis is to analyze the Fairtrade mark on the Czech market and to reveal the brand perception by consumers based on my own research. The theoretical part is concerned with the meaning of a brand, its features, brand equity and also describes the historical development of the mark Fairtrade. In the practical part I concentrate on the real analysis of the Fairtrade and based on the results from my research I find out the overall brand image in the minds of consumers. In conclusion based on the obtained results I try to formulate appropriate recommendations, which could help the mark in the future to improve the image and the market position.

Controller design and implementation for a 6-degree-of-freedom magnetically levitated positioner with high precision

Yu, Ho 01 November 2005 (has links)
This thesis presents the controller design and implementation of a high-precision 6-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) magnetically levitated (maglev) positioner. This high-precision positioning system consists of a novel concentrated-field magnet matrix and a triangular single-moving part that carries three 3-phase permanent-magnet linear-levitation-motor armatures. Since only a single levitated moving part, namely the platen, generates all required fine and coarse motions, this positioning system is reliable and low-cost. Three planar levitation motors based on the Lorentz-force law not only generate the vertical force to levitate the triangular platen but control the platen??s position and orientation in the horizontal plane. All 6-DOF motions are controlled by magnetic forces only. The platen is regarded a pure mass system, and the spring and damping coefficients are neglected except for the vertical directions. Single-input single-output (SISO) digital lead-lag controllers are designed and implemented on a digital signal processor (DSP). This 6-DOF fully magnetically levitated positioner has a total mass of 5.91 kg and currently exhibits a 120 mm ?? 120 mm travel range. This positioner is highly suitable for semiconductor-manufacturing applications such as wafer steppers. Several experimental motion profiles are presented to demonstrate the maglev stage??s capability of accurately tracking any planar and 3-D paths.

The Studying Of The Urban Resort Hotel ¡¦s marketing and positioning-Instance,The Ambassador Hotel

Wang, Jiunn-Dean 02 August 2007 (has links)
Abstract It has been a long time that Taiwan is always promoting its tourism industry in every aspect, and this policy not only arouses the development of economy but also promotes the status of Taiwan in the world. It is considered that the foreigners may have a deeper understanding of Taiwan by visiting this Island, and also expand the civil diplomacy, as well as increase the tourism revenue. Due to the trend of globalization, the city connects directly with global economy, the communications between cities, the sharing of resources and the interaction of cultures, the importance has exceeded upon nations, the competition relationship as well. Therefore, the city must set up its unique character, combined the city marketing with the enterprise, in order to develop the regional resources with area planning and reach the goal of win-win situation. The Ambassador Hotels and the Tokyu Hotels Chain, Japan have been cooperated closely for a long time, not only in sales promotion, the Tohyu Hotels also provide construction design, operation know-how, management concepts and personnel training manuals. The Ambassador Hotel Taipei renovated and expanded to be a 477 room¡¦s hotel in 1979, more catering and convention facilities are added to meet the increasing tourist numbers, due to the world economic booming. In 1981, the largest international hotel in southern Taiwan- the Ambassador Hotel, Kaohsiung opened, which made the Ambassador Hotels become the first domestic hotel chain in Taiwan. Furthermore, the Ambassador Hotel Hsinchu opened in 2000, attracting the nobles of electronic scientists and engineers in Hsinchu Science Industrial Park. The Ambassador Hotel Kaohsiung being re-positioned itself as The Urban Resort Hotel now is the only five stars hotel adjacent to the beautiful Love River, and proudly represents the gorgeous and elegant atmosphere of Kaohsiung Harbor. The Hotel has built the latest poolside outdoor restaurant- Le blé d'or, and has also been awarded as the top international hotel in Kaohsiung by Business Traveler magazine. By re-positioning, re-adjusting the marketing strategies, re-forming the organization, re-inforcing the internal controls and focusing on new products developments, the Ambassador Hotel Kaohsiung has turned into profits by 2004, and is still blooming. It is considered that the re-positioning and re-adjusting marketing strategies did work by analyzing the customer demographics, with the majority of domestic travelers.

Double Differential TOA Positioning for GSM

Nordzell, Andreas January 2013 (has links)
For most time-based positioning techniques, synchronization between the objectsin the system is of great importance. GPS (global positioning system) signalshave been found very useful in this area. However, there are some shortcomingsof these satellite signals, making the system vulnerable. The aim of this masterthesis is to investigate an alternative method for synchronization, independent ofGPS signals, which could be used as a complement. The proposed method takesadvantage of the broadcast signals from telecommunication towers, and use themfor calculation of the synchronization error between two receivers. By looking atthe time difference between arrival times at the receivers, and compare it to thetrue time difference, the synchronization error can be found. A precondition isthat the locations of the receivers as well as the tele tower are known beforehand,so that the true time difference can be calculated using geometry. The arrival times are determined through correlation between the received signalsand known training bits, which are a part of the transmission sequence. Forverification, experiments were made on localization of a mobile phone in theGSM (global system of mobile communications) network. This researchwas a collaboration with FOI, the Swedish Defense Research Agency, where most of the work was done.

Reparatursequenzen in L2-Prüfungen: Positionierung und Fokus auf Form

Bombera, Julia January 2007 (has links)
In this thesis, repair and positioning are examined with respect to second language learners. The data employed in this analysis consists of oral examinations taken by students of German. These data comprise 22 tape recordings averaging 10 minutes in length. The students’ level of German language proficiency is understood to be intermediate. Conversation analysis is the methodology used to analyse the recorded spoken data. The data is first discussed within the context of research on focus on form, including research on learner uptake. To provide new insights in this discussion, the analysis goes further to include the perspective of positioning theory, in particular the aspect of different storylines. Taking interactional repair as the focus of discussion, my analysis shows that form cannot always be strictly separated from meaning when it comes to repair; it also proves that positioning theory plays a considerable role in relation to both repair initiation by teachers and students as well as their reactions to it. Thus, the participants’ positioning has a significant effect on why some repair moves are likely to occur while others are not.
