It also intends to find the conditions that favored or restrained the implementation of the PSF in Aracaju and conditioned the described scenarios; to reflect about the health policy that is being built in that municipality, considering the transformations demanded by the present health context, beyond subsidizing the debate about the inclusion, as a national policy, of the social workers in the Family Health Teams and of the condition of the social workers as health workers. The research is justified by the need of carrying out local studies that reveal the particularities about the form of the insertion of the social workers in the PSF in each specific context, in each local political project and the work processes outlined in them. The research, of qualitative nature, take one exploratory stage when I done interviews not structured with professionals of healthcare they have distinctions positions of local quarrel of professional healthcare, in 1980. Subsequently I done ten interviews guidance with professionals and eight social services, of each place of Aracaju, oriented to Oral History; I done bibliographical research; documental research; and workshops with all the social workers of the PSF, forty professionals. The analysis and interpretation with all this facts let me realize. the insertion of these social workers in PSF in Aracaju establish like one oh those unfold participation of those professionals in the Movement for Sanitary Reform in Sergipe, by the construction of SUS. The work process of these professionals wilt this insert show important changes, that it should be analyzed in biggest the context of production in health, of the processes operated / A reflexão empreendida nesse estudo foca o olhar sobre o Programa Saúde da Família em Aracaju, enquanto política de Atenção Básica, a inserção dos assistentes sociais nesse programa e as mudanças ocorridas na política e nos processos de trabalho desses profissionais e nas evidências de mudança na produção do cuidado em saúde. Objetiva também apreender as condições que favoreceram ou restringiram a implantação do PSF em Aracaju e condicionaram os cenários descritos; refletir sobre a política de saúde que vem sendo construída nesse município, considerando as transformações requeridas pelo atual contexto de saúde, além de subsidiar o debate sobre a inclusão, enquanto política nacional, do assistente social nas Equipes de Saúde da Família e da condição do assistente social enquanto trabalhador da saúde. A pesquisa justificou-se pela necessidade de realizar estudos locais que revelem as particularidades sobre a forma como ocorre a inserção dos assistentes sociais no PSF em cada contexto específico, em cada projeto político local e os processos de trabalho neles delineados. A pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa, apresentou uma fase exploratória quando realizei entrevistas não estruturadas com profissionais da saúde que tiveram posição destacada nas lutas dos profissionais de saúde no nível local, nos anos 1980. Posteriormente realizei dez entrevistas orientadas por questões norteadoras, com profissionais diversos e oito assistentes sociais, um de cada região de Aracaju, na perspectiva da História Oral. Realizei ainda, pesquisa bibliográfica; pesquisa documental; bem como três oficinas com todas as assistentes sociais do PSF, quarenta profissionais. A análise e interpretação de todos esses dados permitiu constatar que a inserção do assistente social no PSF em Aracaju constituiu-se como um dos desdobramentos da participação dessa categoria profissional no Movimento pela Reforma Sanitária em Sergipe, pela construção do SUS. O processo de trabalho desses profissionais, com essa inserção, apresentou mudanças importantes, que devem ser analisadas nos contextos mais amplos da produção em saúde, dos processos aí operados
