08 1900 (has links)
In this thesis we study, theoretically and numerically, light propagation throughout di erent photonic lattices. Experimentally, we have developed two setups, one of them is able to create photonic lattices by means of an induction technique using a photorefractive crystal, and the other one is able to generate arbitrary light patterns to study photonic lattices fabricated using the femtosecond laser writing technique. With these setups, we have been able to observe fundamental phenomena in discrete systems area, and we have also led to the rst experimental observation of linear localized modes belonging to a at band in any physical system. Finally, Lieb photonic lattice with Kerr nonlinearity has been studied theoretically and numerically for the homogeneous and binary lattice case.
