The Proceedings of the First PHANToM User's Group WorkshopSalisbury, J. Kenneth, Srinivasan, Mandayam A. 01 December 1996 (has links)
These proceedings summarize the results of the First PHANToM User's Group Workshop held September 27-30, 1996 MIT. The goal of the workshop was to bring together a group of active users of the PHANToM Haptic Interface to discuss the scientific and engineering challenges involved in bringing haptics into widespread use, and to explore the future possibilities of this exciting technology. With over 50 attendees and 25 presentations the workshop provided the first large forum for users of a common haptic interface to share results and engage in collaborative discussions. Short papers from the presenters are contained herein and address the following topics: Research Effort Overviews, Displays and Effects, Applications in Teleoperation and Training, Tools for Simulated Worlds and, Data Visualization.

Förhållandena inom refraktiv kirurgi i Sverige, vilka metoder används och vilka komplikationer finns?Ahmedova, Renin January 2016 (has links)
Refractive surgery is an effective method for correcting visual refractive errors. The method has evolved quickly over the past decade. The aim of this study was to examine what refractive surgery is in Sweden today. What complications exist and which methods are used, are described by making a presentation of the refractive surgery techniques FS-LASIK, LASEK, TransPRK and RLE. This was done by a survey to find out the various complications between different age groups. A web-based survey was disseminated trough social media like Facebook, different forum sites and e-mail. The survey was also submitted to various eye clinics. The respondents were asked questions about their age, gender, the surgical method used and the complications after surgery. The results of the survey showed that there is no difference in the complication rate between the different age groups. Complications only depend on the type of method used and the patient’s refractive errors.

Přehrávač videa využívající FPGA / Video Player Based on FPGASigmund, Stanislav January 2010 (has links)
This thesis deals with possible and realized decompression and playing of video on platforms, using FPGA unit. For implementation of this player is used platform FITKit, which has integrated VGA connector and large enough RAM memory. It uses a hard drive as memory medium with FAT32 file system.

Boundless Fluids Using the Lattice-Boltzmann MethodHaughey, Kyle J 01 June 2009 (has links)
Computer-generated imagery is ubiquitous in today's society, appearing in advertisements, video games, and computer-animated movies among other places. Much of this imagery needs to be as realistic as possible, and animators have turned to techniques such as fluid simulation to create scenes involving substances like smoke, fire, and water. The Lattice-Boltzmann Method (LBM) is one fluid simulation technique that has gained recent popularity due to its relatively simple basic algorithm and the ease with which it can be distributed across multiple processors. Unfortunately, current LBM simulations also suffer from high memory usage and restrict free surface fluids to domains of fixed size. This thesis modifies the LBM to utilize a recursive run-length-encoded (RLE) grid data structure instead of the standard fixed array of grid cells, which reduces the amount of memory required for LBM simulations as well as allowing the domain to grow and shrink as necessary to accomodate a liquid surface. The modified LBM is implemented within the open-source 3D animation package Blender and compared to Blender's current LBM simulator using the metrics of memory usage and time required to complete a given simulation. Results show that, although the RLE-based simulator can take several times longer than the current simulator to complete a given simulation, the memory usage is significantly reduced, making an RLE-based simulation preferable in a few specific circumstances.

Komprese videa v obvodu FPGA / Implementation of video compression into FPGA chipTomko, Jakub January 2014 (has links)
This thesis is focused on the compression algorithm's analysis of MJPEG format and its implementation in FPGA chip. Three additional video bitstream reduction methods have been evaluated for real-time low latency applications of MJPEG format. These methods are noise filtering, inter-frame encoding and lowering video's quality. Based on this analysis, a MJPEG codec has been designed for implementation into FPGA chip XC6SLX45, from Spartan-6 family.
