Konvergence nových členských zemí EU / Convergence of new member states of the EU

Nevoralová, Lenka January 2010 (has links)
This thesis concentrates on the new member states of the European Union and their convergent processes. It is particularly focused on five Central European countries -- the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia, which became the members of the European Union on 1st May 2004. The first chapter deals with the countries during their preparation process for the membership in the EU, the meeting the Copenhagen Criteria and their economic development. The second chapter is focused on the development of Central European countries in the EU. There is featured the development in the first years of their membership and during the economic crisis and the recovery. The third chapter concentrates on the processes of the real and nominal convergence in the Central Europe. Besides monitoring various stages of convergence over time there is documented the course of the convergence by the calculation of beta convergence in the European Union. At the end of the thesis there is outlined the relationship between the degree of nominal and real convergence in the concerned countries.

Konvergenční proces České republiky k Evropské měnové unii / The convergence process of the Czech Republic to European monetary union

Kutinová, Hana January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the convergence process of the Czech Republic. The thesis describes the historical background of the Treaty on European Union and the criteria for adopting the euro are described in detail. The convergence process of the Czech Republic is viewed from the perspective of a nominal convergence (inflation rates, government finance, exchange rates, long-term interest rates) as well as a real convergence (measured by GDP per capita in purchasing power parity). Further, the attention is paid to the institutional framework of fiscal policy of the Czech Republic. Indicators of economic harmonization are also analyzed, such as the business cycle, interest rates, exchange rates and stock indices. The comparative method is used to evaluate -- development indicators are compared over time and with countries in a similar position with the Czech Republic.

Relation between Globalisation and the Real Convergence: Does convergence of globalisation influence convergence of real GDP per capita? / Vztah mezi globalizací a reálnou konvergencí: ovplyvňuje konvergence v globalizaci konvergenci reálného HDP na hlavu?

Rybanová, Soňa January 2011 (has links)
This dissertation poses the question of whether there is a relationship between the speed of convergence of globalisation and the speed of convergence of GDP per capita. Firstly, the concepts of globalisation and real convergence and their relationship are thoroughly explained from both the theoretical and empirical point of view. And secondly, the answer to the question comes in the form of beta and sigma convergence analysis of this relationship. Thirdly, the analysis splits the countries into two groups (developed and developing countries) and finds interesting but ambiguous results in their comparison. Finally, in order to correctly interpret the results of absolute and conditional beta and sigma convergence, their theoretical and empirical overview is discussed in depth. The dissertation concludes by providing some answers to the initial question for every particular analysis. Namely, it shows that this relationship is indeed very ambiguous.

Současná finanční a hospodářská krize a vstup ČR do EMU / Current financial and economic crisis and the entry of the Czech Republic into the European Monetary Union

Strnad, Petr January 2009 (has links)
This Diploma Paper provides an analysis of the Czech Republic convergence process, which importance grows more in the period before entry into the European Monetary Union. The convergence is evaluated on the basis of three criterion units which are standing alone but fading into each other. It is the Nominal convergence including Maastricht criteria which have been stated in the Treaty on European Union, then Real convergence criteria and criteria which accompany the development of the Optimum Currency Areas Theory. The theoretical part gives the definitions of particular criteria and draw the attention to potential problems which can occur by their interpreting. In the practical part there are comparative characteristics used to analyze achieved state of the convergence in the Czech Republic in relation to EU countries and euro area countries. This part attends also to monitoring the current financial and economical crisis and it's impact on individual indicators.
