For the purpose of creating a sustainable environment for the future generation, the government has recognized the importance of renewable resources, and actively takes on the strategies and measures by promoting the industries to recycling wastes in order to effectively improve the physical fitness of the industry. There are various ways to recycle waste materials, depends on the technology and the applications, one waste material can be classified into different ranks of recycled resource. Also, the market value of the recycled resource is judged by its ability to substitute the existing goods on the market. Because of the high proportion of galvanized steel in the steel scrap, zinc would vaporize during the high temperature process; as a result, the electric arc furnace dust (EAF dust) would contain high proportion of zinc. According to the existing recycling technology, the proportion of zinc in EAF dust is around 20% to 30%, which is a valuable secondary resource for producing zinc. This research focuses on the recycling industry; the aim of this research is to find out its future trend and the bottlenecks to be overcome. Hopefully come up with constructive suggestions and specific strategies and measures. The results suggest that the officials should set up standards for recycled products. What is also important is that the government should better plan the policies and regulations for recycling industry. Moreover, the results also show the users of the recycled materials care most about the quality of the product. Hence, the producers of crude zinc oxide should form strategic alliance in order to each the economic scales of production and develop recycling technology to elevate the quality of crude zinc oxide. Once the production meets the market demand, it will be able to expand the sales channels and establish a stable profit.

A systems study of waste paper recovery and recycling

Ho, Tat Kin January 1982 (has links)
This thesis investigated the technological economics of waste paper recovery and recycling in UK. The major problem in waste paper recycling is still the removal of contraries, although technological developments have so far been able to remove some of them. The costs incurred by the local authorities in recovering waste paper were investigated. Local authority costing was found to be inconsistent and many of them did not include all the relevant indirect costs and savings, so that many local authorities claimed to be making heavy losses in their operations. Full accounting incorporating all the relevant indirect costs and savings have shown that most local authorities incurred much smaller losses and in some cases profited from their waste paper recovery operations. A general computer model was developed to allow local authorities to check the viability of their on-going operations and another computer model was developed for an investment appraisal of a proposed waste paper recovery operation. Multiple regression models were developed to forecast the demand of waste paper in the short term and the long term. The cost to the mill in recycling waste paper was also examined. Waste paper recycling can only be increased by improving demand for waste paper based products. Various alternatives for diversifying the markets for waste paper were investigated, particularly those outside the paper and board industry. The government's role in helping to inc~ease waste paper recovery and recycling was examined and some government actions that could be taken were proposed.

Silva, Mayara Cristina Ghedini da 07 May 2012 (has links)
This research aimed to propose a methodology for identifying potential sites to locate a waste recycling plant of Civil Construction in Ponta Grossa city. For this, presenting a background on: sustainability and sustainable development; CONAMA Resolution; ABNT rules and municipal laws, which impose criteria for the establishment of the plant for recycling them. Seeking to answer the specific objectives of this study, the methodology applied was divided into five stages, namely: bibliographic and documentary, to select criteria and sub criteria; criteria validation, definition of alternatives; development of the hierarchical structure and application of the model in software Expert Choice 11.5. With this work, it was developed a applicable methodology in different cities, which have as their objective the establishment of a recycling plant. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method allowed to transform qualitative informations into quantitative, so facilitating decision making processes. Can be concluded that with the application of AHP method which the criterion Environmental Pillar presents itself as a major factor in decision making and the land located in the Uvaranas neighborhood, presents itself as the alternative with the greatest potential to locate a waste recycling plant of Civil Construction in Ponta Grossa city.

Grecco, Fabiana Sanches. January 2014 (has links)
Abstract: Bases on field trips to collect oral reports from pickers of recyclable materials in the cities of Araçatuba/SP and Marília/SP, the process of industrial recycling in São Paulo State countryside is analyzed, articulating it to the discussions about organization of production processes in Brazil, highlighting the gender based work division. The aim is, by analyzing how recycling is structured in contemporary capitalism, to emphasize the hidden exploitation of the workforce, especially women pickers of recyclable materials, drawing a link between the expansion of this labor activity and the political-economic and social transformations of the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century. As a hypothesis to this study, the growth of informality in production relationships is highlighted, triggering production growth of an overpopulation relative to the average need for workers employed for capital appreciation, the rescue of work associations and the use of the labor force of women as enhancing factors of capitalist exploitation, which articulately justify the process of expansion of pickers work in the country. / Mestre
