A região do Recôncavo foi historicamente muito importante para se iniciar e sistematizar estudos referentes à divisão espacial da produção brasileira. Parte-se da genealogia da formação do território do Recôncavo, com ênfase nas sucessivas implantações de redes técnicas, associadas a diferentes períodos históricos. Os diversos tipos de redes técnicas se expandiram e ganharam ou perderam importância na medida em que se mudava a configuração territorial da região estudada. Estas configurações também são condicionadas pela presença ou pelas funcionalidades das diversas redes. Como se objetiva a compreensão do Recôncavo à luz de um instrumental teórico atualizado, se fez uso das teorias recentemente elaboradas por Milton Santos, que é autor de um clássico estudo sobre a rede urbana que ora analisamos. A rede urbana tem suas funcionalidades sustentadas pelas infra-estruturas, também chamadas de redes técnicas. As redes, entendidas como constituintes do espaço geográfico, uma instância social que possui papel ativo e condicionante sobre as demais instâncias. Para a compreensão do uso do território do Recôncavo, analisamos sua evolução durante diversos períodos históricos, que resultou na presente configuração e permitiu entender seu funcionamento atual, suas especificidades, diferenciações e desigualdades. / ABSTRACT The present study looked for an interpretation of the implications of the modernization in the Reconcavo Bahiano starting from the process of diffusion of the geographical ways in the area, with emphasis the years starting from 1950, period marked by the appearance and expansion of the technician-scientific-informational means. The Reconcavo area was historically very important to begin and to systematize studies reported to the space division of the Brazilian production. Staring from Reconcavo´s formation genealogy, emphasizing in the successive implantations of technical networks, associated to different historical periods. The several types of technical networks expanded and got or lost importance in the same way that the territorial configuration of the studied area changed. These configurations are also conditioned by the presence or for the functionalities of the several networks. As the comprehension of Reconcavo by an instrumental theoretical updated is aimed, there were used theories recently elaborated by Milton Santos, author of a classic study on the urban network that is now analyzed. The urban network has their functionalities sustained by the infrastructures, also calls of technical networks. The networks, understood as constituent of geographical space, a social instance that has active paper and stimulant on the other instances. For the understanding of the use of Reconcavo, we analyzed its evolution during several historical periods, that it resulted in the present configuration and it allowed to understand its current operation, their specificities, differentiations and inequalities.

Specifically, the influence of the Innovation, the Business Network, the Technical Network, the Business Context as well as the Acquisition of Technology were analyzed. The proposed methodology was based on a quantitative research, through the application of a Survey along with the suppliers of the automotive industry. The statistical technique of Multiple Linear Regression model was used for data analysis by having the COEs as the dependent variable. Based on 91 questionnaires answered, the results conclude that the activities related to innovation, as well as the Acquisition of Technology and the Business Context contribute to the formation of COEs, rejecting the hypothesis related to the Technical Network and the Business Context in which the companies are inserted in. / O objetivo deste trabalho é verificar quais fatores influenciam a formação de Centros de Excelência na indústria automobilística brasileira. Especificamente, verificou-se a influência da Inovação, da Rede de Negócios, da Rede Técnica, do Contexto de Negócios bem como da Aquisição de Tecnologia. A metodologia proposta teve como base o método de pesquisa quantitativo, do tipo Survey, com aplicação junto aos fornecedores da indústria automobilística. Utilizou-se a técnica estatística de Regressão Linear Múltipla para a análise de dados, tendo os Centros de Excelência (COEs) como variável dependente. Com 91 questionários respondidos, o estudo conclui que as atividades ligadas à Inovação, à Aquisição de Tecnologia e à Rede de Negócios contribuem para a formação de COEs, rejeitando-se as hipóteses ligadas à Rede Técnica e ao Contexto de Negócios em que as subsidiárias estão inseridas.
