A report of the investigation of Mississippi's regional library program. This paper first outlines briefly cultural factors and conditions in Mississippi in relation to library development; then, because a knowledge of the legal basis of the library program in Mississippi aids in understanding of the regional program, a brief history of the legal development of library service is given. It is the purpose of the study to make a survey of the larger libraries in this region and to compile a list of the holdings of books about music. With the impetus of the North Texas Regional Union List of Serials, 1943; Comprising the libraries of North Texas State Teachers College. Southern Methodist University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Texas Christian University Texas State College for Women, and the Public Libraries of Dallas and Fort Worth, and its two supplements of 1943-45 and 1945-46, and following the general form of that work, the present "Union List of Musical Literature in North Texas Regional Libraries, 1946," has been compiled. The libraries represented in the North Texas Regional Union List of Serials are included here, with holdings listed as of March 1, 1946. These libraries are: North Texas State Teachers College and Texas State College for Women, Denton, Texas; Texas Christian University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Fort worth Public Library, Fort Worth, Texas; Southern Methodist University and Dallas Public Library, Dallas, Texas.

(in English): The thesis describes the current economic crisis, to which the Government responded by a set of restrictive measures of public finance. The main attention is paid to the research whether the current financial crisis and government austerity measures influenced the activities of the regional libraries in the Czech Republic and whether they compromised the quality of services provided to the public. The introductory chapter briefly describes the activities of the regional libraries, the most important legislative documents, defines standards of public information services and the development concept. The next chapter is focused on the theoretical definition of the financial crisis and its typology, summarizes its reasons and its historical context. The third chapter briefly approaches the main cases of the current financial crisis in the United States and its impact on European markets, the course of the financial crisis in the United Kingdom and how it influenced the public library sector. The objective of the thesis is to describe and evaluate services of public libraries aimed at immigrants and national minorities in the Czech Republic and programs to support them. The first part defines the principal terms related to libraries and minorities. An overview of legislation follows, focused on the same topic. The third part introduces five most common national minorities and immigrant groups living in the Czech Republic. The fourth chapter describes all regional libraries in the Czech Republic, two of municipal libraries near the national border where the percentage of minorities is higher and one specialized library with a focus on their foreign- language equipment, events, meetings or exhibitions about or for national minorities or immigrants, their cooperation with various organizations, employees' interest in minorities and a possibility of registration of foreigners at libraries. Following part is about programs and projects supporting foreigners in Czech libraries. The sixth chapter describes selected organizations working in the migration field. This thesis describes regional functions of libraries in the Central Bohemia Region in the years 2001-2011, it focuses on funding reduction in 2011-2012 and through a survey it identifies the attitudes of operated libraries in the current period. The introductory chapter briefly describes the theoretical and legislative definitions of regional functions performance, objectives, standards and funding at the nationwide level. It defines the objectives of the regional functions such as ensuring availability and a comparable quality of public librarian and information services for citizens in all parts of the Czech Republic, promoting effective labour distribution and coordination of professional librarian activities and efficient use of public financial resources. The second part is devoted to the performance of regional functions in the Central Bohemia Region. The period in which these functions are implemented is divided into two stages, which are compared. It describes the effect of the Concept of support for libraries from the budget of the Central Bohemia Region to the activities of libraries in the region, the consequences of reduced financial contribution to the regional activities in 2010-2011 and briefly suggests possible solutions.
