An Internet and Web Based Remote Micro-Controller System

Hsieh, Chia-Sheng 11 June 2001 (has links)
An Internet and Web Based Remote Micro-Controller System Jia-Sheng Hsieh¡¹ Whei-Min Lin¡¹¡¹ Institute of Electrical Engineering National Sun Yat-Sen University Abstract With the development of new technologies, extending the techniques from local control to remote control with the public communication media becomes worldwide issues. In the hardware aspect, this research designed the T-RMC (Twin-Remote Micro controller) system to reduce hardware cost. This Fore-Processor can simulate Programming Logical Controller (PLC), to accomplish function of data acquisition and data transmission. The design features low cost¡B high stability, with remote data transmission, and easy expansion. The system functions are now designed with one point to one point communication, so in the future work, this system will be expanded to become one point to multi-point or multi-point to multi-point control system. Anther topic of this thesis is to develop a GUI (Graphical User Interface) suitable for Internet based supervisory control systems. In addition, the thesis presents the use of some CGI (Common Gateway Interface) programs, and the technique of embedded G programming (Graphic programming) into the homepage. The operator can operate the system easily by using friendly GUI. Examples of two applications were used to show that the T-RMC system was accomplished successfully. The experimental results have demonstrated the capabilities of the supervisory control system through LAN or Internet. One is the Remote Multi-channel Analog/Digital Signal Acquisition System, and the other is the Internet-Based Remote Scheduling Agent System. These systems can manage and control the conventional household or industrial electric equipment, to achieve the goal of energy conservation. ¡¹Author ¡¹¡¹Advisor

Automatic Remote-Control System Design

Su, Zi-Roun 02 July 2001 (has links)
ABSTRACT: With the progress of science development, the controls of various loads come into computerize gradually. Most of equipment makes use of programmable Logic Controller or Ethernet network in the past, which connect with computer. It is mature in industrial applications, but still unsuitable in the general monitoring system . The project focuses on this problem to provide a complete solution. The fundamental structure of system runs in the environment of popular windows by personal computer, using high-level interface program between human being and machine. The operator can be easy to operate system by using high-level interface program language. It makes use of series-port output and input signals via cable to specific module, and supplies interface program between human and machine. Consequently, remote equipment can be controlled to achieve expected purpose.

Managing ServerHotel

Kumpulainen, Taru January 2006 (has links)
This graduate study was assigned by Unisys Oy Ab. The purpose of this study was to find tools to monitor and manage servers and objects in a hosting environment and to remotely connect to the managed objects. Better solutions for promised services were also researched. Unisys provides a ServerHotel service to other businesses which do not have time or resources to manage their own network, servers or applications. Contracts are based on a Service Level Agreement where service level is agreed upon according to the customer's needs. These needs have created a demand for management tools. Unisys wanted to find the most appropriate tools for its hosting environment to fulfill the agreed service level with reasonable costs. The theory consists of literary research focusing on general agreements used in the Finnish IT business, different types of monitoring and management tools and the common protocols used inthem. The theory focuses mainly on the central elements of the above mentioned topics and on their positive and negative features. The second part of the study focuses on general hosting agreements and what management tools Unisys has selected for hosting and why. It also gives a more detailed account of the hosting environment and its features in more detail. Because of the results of the study Unisys decided to use Servers Alive to monitor network and MS applications’ services. Cacti was chosen to monitor disk spaces, which gives us an idea of future disk growth. For remote connections the Microsoft’s Remote Desktop tool was the mostappropriate when the connection was tunneled through Secure Shell (SSH). Finding proper tools for the intended purposes with cost-conscious financial resources proved challenging. This study showed that if required, it is possible to build a professional hosting environment.

Radio Frequency Remote Control Unit with Gyro and Accelerometer

Buhaiu, Andrei January 2013 (has links)
Today digital TV receivers (Set-Top-Boxes) are mainly controlled by IR-based remote control units (RCUs). With new services emerging in thereceivers where better browsing and pointing abilities are desirable (VODservices, Web services, games etc), one solution is a new type of RF remotecontrol. An RF RCU has a number of advantages, e.g. when in range, ithas 100% reliable transmission, it is not sensitive to direction, and it doesnot require a free way to the receiver (i.e. it allows the receiver to be hiddenbehind the TV-set or in a cabinet).

Evaluation of video-camera controls for remote manipulation

Frenette, Réal January 1985 (has links)
The control of the video-camera plays an important factor in the overall efficiency of a teleoperator system. A computer-based video-camera control has been designed to compare and evaluate four different modes of control. A situation where an operator does not have a free hand for the control of the video-camera has been selected: such a situation can be found in subsea applications where the operator is required to steer a submarine and to manipulate a robot arm. The four modes are: • manual control mode : The operator's right hand is used to control both the robot arm and the camera system. The orientation of the camera (with close-up lens) is performed by pressing push buttons. • automatic tracking mode : The camera (with close-up lens) automatically tracks the end effector of the slave arm, without direction from the operator. • voice-operated mode : The orientation of the camera (with close-up lens) is accomplished by spoken commands. • fixed-camera-position mode : A wide angle lens is used in this mode. The camera constantly remains in a straight ahead position and no controls are required. A tracking task and a pick-and-drop task were performed during the experiments. Measures of speed and accuracy were taken and analyzed; subjective remarks were also gathered. Results showed significant differences between the modes. Specifically, automatic tracking mode and voice-operated mode were found to offer the best ergonomic environment for the operator in terms of speed-accuracy tradeoff. / Applied Science, Faculty of / Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of / Graduate

Remote Control of Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning System with Labview

Liew, Yu-Loong 13 December 2003 (has links)
Recent technological advances have extended the use of some old technology such as the X-10 home automation. With the use of X-10 and the Internet, a remote control home is possible. One of the major energy consumption appliances in a house is the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system. The main objective of this study is to explore the possibility of using X-10 and the Internet to serve as an energy saving system. A simulation is used to estimate the energy consumption.

AUTOMATIC RANGE EQUIPMENT SETUP AND CONTROL

Andzik, Rob, Brans, Charles (Chuck) N. 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2006 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Second Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 23-26, 2006 / Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, San Diego, California / Today Ranges are faced with the typical dilemma of doing more with less—less money, less time, and less experienced range personnel. Meanwhile, Ranges are being forced to make their operations more efficient in use of time, money, and functionality. As a result, Ranges are looking for automated ways to remotely configure and operate their tracking stations and to provide interoperability between ranges, sites, and equipment. RT Logic worked with numerous range operators and equipment vendors to create an open software architecture that provides rapid device configuration, equipment status at a glance, and automatic fault detection and isolation. RT Logic’s architecture utilizes the CORBA specification to achieve extensibility and scalability for future range requirements. Adoption of this architecture and approach will reduce costs, time, and mistakes.
