Du Plessis, Josef January 2015 (has links)
Motivated employees contribute to the wellbeing of the employee as well as the success of the company. Each and every person is motivated differently and at a different level. One of the biggest challenges for an organisation is to find out how it can motivate employees to ensure job satisfaction and improve employee efficiency and productivity. The objective of this study is to determine how employees of a retirement fund company in Centurion, Gauteng believe they are motivated and how the company is performing in meeting the expectation for motivation of the employees. A comprehensive literature study was done to investigate the theories on motivation. A structured questionnaire was compiled based on the factors of motivation identified in the literature study by the author in collaboration with the Statistical Consultation Service of the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus. Data was captured by the researcher and analysed with the assistance of the Statistical Consultation Services. Based on the results of the data analysis, it is recommended that managers focus on areas identified as important motivators by the employees to improve overall motivation in the workplace. The results also improve the understanding of the managers as to how their employees want to be motivated and how they are currently performing to those expectations. / MBA, North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2015

Specifika anglosaského a kontinentálního corporate governance / Specifics of Anglo-Saxon and continental corporate governance

Bílek, Petr January 2018 (has links)
Specifics of Anglo-Saxon and Continental corporate governance This thesis deals with the comparison of Anglo-Saxon and Continental approaches to corporate governance. Although the title of this thesis might evoke that the main theme of this thesis is a comparison of two different models of corporate governance, the basis for this work is the opposite. The author aims to make use of the compari- son of selected corporate governance issues in the various legal systems of both the Anglo-Saxon and Continental models of corporate governance to find out how sig- nificantly the current Anglo-Saxon and Continental model of corporate governance differs, whether there is a convergence or divergence between these two models and whether it makes sense to divide legal systems' approaches to corporate governance on the basis of these two models or not anymore. The thesis is divided into five (5) chapters, where the first chapter is a brief intro- duction to corporate governance issues followed by chapters dedicated to selected issues of corporate governance in joint-stock companies after. These four (4) main issues explored in the thesis are: the internal organization of the administrative bod- ies of joint-stock companies, the independence and objectivity of the corporation's administrative bodies, the...

Frequency control : Pay for performance

Dahlborg, Elin January 2015 (has links)
The frequency control in the Nordic grid is to a large extent delivered by hydropower plants. The hydropower plants deliver frequency control of varying quality, meaning that a remuneration method based on more than just the static gain of the power plant is called for. This thesis has examined how three remuneration methods based on the hydropower plant output and the grid frequency deviation affects the grid stability. Using frequency data, the remunerated work along with the bandwidth and phase-crossover frequency was plotted and compared for varying governor settings. The results show that all three remuneration methods examined need constructive technical specifications (for example based on the frequency response) to not decrease the grid stability. The first remuneration method, where the power plant is remunerated for being on the right side of the power set point value as the grid frequency deviates, gave incentives for increased bandwidth, but no particular incentives regarding the phase-crossover frequency. The second remuneration method, where the power plant is remunerated for how well it matches the output power from a plant with no dynamics using a proportional controller, gave incentives for moderately high bandwidth and phase-crossover frequency. The third remuneration method, which remunerates how well the plant power output matches the load disturbance that gave rise to the grid frequency deviation, needs to be investigated further, but the initial analysis show that it did neither give incentives for increased bandwidth nor phase-crossover frequency.

The impact of an outcomes based remuneration scheme on performance in the financial sector / Craig Graham Naicker.

Naicker, Craig Graham January 2012 (has links)
This mini-dissertation investigates the influence that an outcome-based remuneration scheme can have on productivity in the financial sector. It focuses on four dimensions that were used to determine if productivity levels could be affected; all of these four dimensions could be linked back to the performance of the employee and employer. The four dimensions were units produced, overtime, absenteeism and till cash up which speaks to the quality of transactions that were processed. When these four dimensions were tested statistically the results tended to suggest that there is a positive association with productivity and an outcome-based remuneration scheme. This simply means that an outcome-based remuneration scheme increases productivity levels in the workplace, more specifically in the financial sector; the literature review also supports this statement. The study also deals briefly with the advantages and disadvantages of a pay for performance scheme as well as when designing a pay for performance scheme what are the key design elements. It also briefly touches on the implementation of such a scheme, whether pay for performance is sustainable over a period of time and what are the most common types of pay for performance schemes. / Thesis (MBA)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2013.
