Prostor Ostravy v současné české literatuře / The Space of the City of Ostrava in Contemporary Czech Prose FictionJanáková, Bára January 2018 (has links)
We have been examinining the image of Ostrava on prose of six authors after 1989. Our aim was to find the function of such space in narrative - it can only play role of a scenery (Slawińsky term), sometimes more functions are added, which empasizes the importance of region in literature according to Urbanová: each region can become a theme or be transposed into author ́s aesthetic sense, influence creative method and become an inspiration in various ways. We have also evaluated how much the protagonists identify themselves with the urban space of Ostrava. This has been based on phenomenological approach of Norberg- Schultz Genius loci. In conclusion we have tried to summarize which themes regarding Ostrava become common for examined authors, whether they create a coherent literary utterance about Ostrava, which has similarities with Todorov ́s petersburg text of russian literature.

The main part of the doctoral thesis analyses the form of terraced housing in Czechoslovakia in the years 1945-1990. It searches for the original roots, the principles of formation and the characteristic types. The purpose was to find an answer to the question of where its values lie, because the state-controlled standardization negatively influenced the appearance of an average terraced house. The quest of seeking positive approaches the pre-war development of terraced housing and examines parallels between the groups of the 70s and the present. The subject is embedded in the wider framework of the state housing policy and its impact on the character of the new development. The thesis focuses on the period of the 70s, when family development culminat-ed. The main part analyzes three selected groups of terraced houses from the seventies. Východoasijská kaligrafie a české umění po roce 1948 / East Asian Calligraphy and Czech Art after 1948Polláková, Petra January 2020 (has links)
My dissertation thesis seeks to explore some specific social aspects of the dialogue between traditional Chinese art and thinking and Czech art scene after the February1948, when the Communist party took power in former Czechoslovakia. I am mainly interested in the problematic of inspiration from traditional Chinese calligraphy and Daoist philosophy on Czech painting, visual poetry and literature in the 1950s and 1960s. I will argue that the appropriation of selected Chinese philosophical and artistic themes helped Czech artists, working under the communist repression, to express their innermost human emotions in relation to home, culture, freedom, and one's artistic and human destiny. The communist regime meant to many artists the end of their official artistic career. Life in seclusion outside the main political and social streams became for some of them an opportunity to display pent-up feelings of affinity with the life stories of the ancient Daoist thinkers. In this context, focus is primarily placed on an analysis of several distinctive visual and literary works by Czech leading artists of the period, especially on the selected works by the visual artists Emil Filla, Jiří Kolář, Vladimír Boudník, Jan Kotík or Zdeněk Sklenář and the novelist Bohumil Hrabal (1914 - 1997) and his world famous...
