Conhecer as enfermidades nas diferentes regiões do Brasil é importante na adoção de medidas de controle, profilaxia e no auxílio à vigilância epidemiológica. Este trabalho contempla 51 casos de doenças com sinais neurológicos em ovinos (37 casos) e caprinos (14 casos), no Distrito Federal e cidades do entorno, atendidos pelo Hospital Escola de Grandes Animais da Universidade de Brasília no período de 2001 a 2012. Fichas incompletas e diagnósticos inconclusivos foram descartados do estudo, onde as enfermidades encontradas foram tétano (37,25%), polioencefalomalácia (27,45%), botulismo (11,76%), meningite (5,88%), compressão medular por trauma (3,92%), Intoxicação por Palicourea marcgravii (3,92%), abscesso hipofisário (1,96%), raiva (1,96%), compressão medular por abscesso (1,96%) e leucoencefalomielite por CAEV (3,92%). ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Neurological diseases in ruminants are important for its significant economic losses or its zoonotic potential. Knowing the disease in different regions of Brazil is important in the adoption of control measures, prevention and helps in epidemiological surveillance. This work includes 51 cases of disease with neurological signs in sheep (37 cases) and goats (14 cases), in the Distrito Federal (state of Brazil) and the surrounding cities, attended by the Large Animal Veterinary Hospital at the University of Brasilia in the period 2001-2012. Incomplete medical records and inconclusive diagnoses were excluded from the study, where the diseases found were tetanus (37.25%), polioencephalomalacia (27.45%), botulism (11.76%), meningitis (5.88%), spinal cord compression by trauma (3.92%), poisoning by Palicourea marcgravii (3.92%), pituitary abscess (1.96%), rabies (1.96%), spinal cord compression by abscess (1.96%), and leukoencephalomyelitis by CAEV (3.92%).
