Try tho show how it contribute to the discussions about medicine history, between 1815-1898. Since the historic contexto of Rio Grande do Sul and Porto Alegre, try to insert this material culture in the ordinary life of the city letting capture its different meanings, respecting its peculiar and limits range. Material Culture of this research is from five historic archaeological sites: Santa Casa de Misericórdia e Centro Histórico-Cultural Santa Casa (RS-JA-29), Casa da Riachuelo (RS-JA-17), Paço Municipal (RS-JA-20); Mercado Público Central (RS-JA-05) e Solar da Travessa Paraíso (RS-JA-03). / Esta tese discute a cultura material relacionada às artes de curar. Procura demonstrar de que forma ela contribui para as discussões a respeito da história da medicina, entre os anos 1815-1898. A partir do contexto histórico do Rio Grande do Sul e Porto Alegre, procura inserir essa cultura material no cotidiano da cidade de forma a captar seus diferentes significados, respeitando as peculiaridades e seus limites de alcance. A cultura material desta pesquisa é proveniente de cinco sítios arqueológicos históricos: Santa Casa de Misericórdia e Centro Histórico-Cultural Santa Casa (RS-JA-29), Casa da Riachuelo (RS-JA-17), Paço Municipal (RS-JA-20); Mercado Público Central (RS-JA-05) e Solar da Travessa Paraíso (RS-JA-03).
