<p><strong>Syfte:</strong> Studien avser ta reda på:</p><ul><li>Om det finns ett internationellt gångbart ledarskap </li><li>Eller om det krävs nationella anpassningar </li><li>Vad eventuella anpassningar beror på</li><li>Vad som kännetecknar en respekterad internationell ledare</li></ul><p><strong>Metod: </strong>Studien är baserad på sju kvalitativa djupintervjuer, som analyserats med hjälp av kulturdimensions- och ledarskapsteorier. Intervjuerna har sammanställts i en matris, för att bli överskådligare. Nyckelord och samband har därefter markerats för att hitta gemensamma teman.</p><p><strong>Resultat & slutsats: </strong>Fyra huvudresultat har framkommit:</p><ul><li>Det internationella ledarskapet finns</li><li>Dock krävs vissa kulturella anpassningar</li><li>De mest utmärkande skillnaderna mellan Sverige och Singapore är, hur personer motiveras, hur man kommunicerar effektivast och hur problem löses och arbetet struktureras</li><li>Den effektiva ledaren är bl a målfokuserad, en bra kommunikatör och lyhörd</li></ul><p><strong>Förslag till fortsatt forskning:</strong></p><ul><li>Utöka studien med att innefatta enkäter, fler djupintervjuer eller observationer, för att få ett bättre statistiskt underlag </li><li>Studien kan göras på fler länder</li><li>Studera flera stora internationella ledares egenskaper </li><li>Intervjua ledarnas medarbetare för att få ett bredare material i ämnet</li></ul><p><strong>Uppsatsens bidrag: </strong>Uppsatsen visar på att nationella anpassningar behöver göras, för att bli en framgångsrik internationell ledare. Feasibility Study of Renewable Energy in Singapore

Singapore is a country that is currently highly dependent on import of oil and gas. In order to be able to shift into a more sustainable energy system, Singapore is investing in research regarding different technologies and systems so as to establish more sustainable energy solutions. Seeing how air-conditioning accounts for approximately 30 % of Singapore’s total energy consumption, a feasibility study is being conducted on whether an integrated system using a thermally active building system (TABS) and desiccant evaporative cooling system (DECS) can replace the air-conditioning system. The question which is to be discussed in this thesis is whether solar and wind power can be financially feasible in Singapore and if they can be utilized in order to power the integrated system.   The approaching model consists of a financial feasibility study of the different technologies and a theoretical test-bedding, where the suitability of the technologies to power the TABS and DECS is tested. The financial feasibility is estimated by calculating the payback period and using the net present value method. A model designed in a digital modeling software is used for the test-bedding. Measurements from a local weather station are used for estimating the solar radiance and wind speeds in Singapore. The results show that solar PV panels could be feasible in Singapore but that technological improvements as well as governmental subsidies are needed in order to make it profitable enough to attract investors. As for wind power, the wind conditions are not favorable enough, in terms of wind speed and wind frequencies, for small wind turbines that currently exist on the market to be able generate enough electricity to make the investment somewhat feasible. Solar thermal collectors and solar PV are given certain conditions suitable for powering the TABS and DECS.

Nationer är komplexa varumärken i kontrast till organisationers eller företags varumärken. De omfattar en rad aspekter såsom exempelvis turism, näringsliv och politik. Trots det, är det minst lika viktigt för ett land att skapa ett gott rykte kring sitt varumärke. Att sponsra en film är ett av alla tillvägagångssätt att nå ut med sitt varumärke till omvärlden. Det gjorde Singapores turistnämnd, när de sponsrade filmen Crazy Rich Asians. Hollywoodfilmen släpptes år 2018 och blev en succé i många länder. Denna studie har undersökt på vilket sätt en geografiskt distanserad publik tolkat landets varumärke genom filmen. Syftet med studien är att framhäva på vilket sätt en geografiskt distanserad publik tolkar ett nationsvarumärke i film. Fem svenska studenter deltog i en fokusgrupp. Studien kom fram till att (1) Singapores varumärke uppmärksammades tydligt av en geografiskt distanserad publik genom filmen, men att (2) vissa singaporianska kulturer och traditioner som framhävs tolkades på ett icke-önskvärt sätt. Studiens resultat understryker vikten av vilken kulturell kontext som filmen presenteras i. / Nations brands are complex in contrast to corporational- or organizational brands. There are numerous different aspects that need to be considered when building a strong nation brand for example within sectors revolving tourism, politics and infrastructure. Sponsoring a movie is one way for a nation to market themselves and reach out to a larger audience worldwide. In 2018 Singapore Tourism Board, STB, sponsored the movie Crazy Rich Asians, a movie that became a Hollywood success worldwide. This study aims to examine in which ways a geographical distanced audience responded to the movie and how their interpretation could help to construct Singapore's brand image. The purpose of the study is to highlight in what way a geographically distanced audience read a nation brand trough film. Five Swedish students participated in a focus group discussion on this matter after watching the movie Crazy Rich Asians. The study reveals that (1) a geographically distanced audience did create a brand image of Singapore through the movie. (2) Some of the Singaporean cultures and traditions that exposed in the movie were not read in a desirable way. The result of the study highlights the importance of which culture context a movie is presented in.
