Master of Science / Department of Food Science / Doug Powell / In the development of a hypothetical new food product (Beta Buzz) a company must have a thorough understanding of the associated food safety risks, and control factors needed to protect their consumers and their brand. The company must understand each of the suppliers, and take a proactive approach in determining the supplier requirements. It is critical that manufacturing risks be controlled and/or reduced through a combination of internal program compliance, government regulations, third party audit compliance, and/or customer audits and expectations with a focus on ingredients, the finished product and the manufacturing process itself. Food consumers have a right to safe food; the industry, as well as the government, has a responsibility to ensure consumers receive safe food.

The research presented in this thesis is the result of field data collection conducted by the Utah Local Technical Assistance Program (Utah LTAP) in conjunction with the Utah Department of Transportation. The first step of the research was data collection from 18 road safety audits conducted throughout the state of Utah. These Road Safety Audits (RSA's) provided a wide variety of data that was used for the validation of the road safety audit quantification methodology. The purpose of this research is to provide quantification to the RSA process that will increase the benefits gained from implementing the RSA recommendations. Benefits derived from the implementation of RSA recommendations were found by assessing the change of risk from before and after safety improvements. The RSA quantification tool was developed to analyze projects in both urban and rural settings. The implementation of the RSA tool will help practitioners show the benefits that can be gained from the safety recommendations and help decision makers in allocating funds to the areas that pose the most risk. The tool will show the difference in risk that the improvements make and the cost effectiveness of different project alternatives.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to provide information from field realization of safety audit in industrail company using Self - Audit Handbook for SMEs. In case of significant deficiencies, propose a precaution for improvements in system of control and managemnt of safety.

This diploma thesis contains the basic theoretic information which is needed for implementing of the safety management at the small and middle companies in Czech republic. The thesis explicates the methodology of the Self-Audit Handbook for SMEs and describes self audit applications in the industry.

The main content of the diploma thesis is the implementation and evaluation of the safety audit in selected company using the manual Self-Audit Handbook for SMEs. The identification of security risks in the company is also performed by statistical analysis of accidents at work in the company and evaluating the most common causes of accidents. Based on the detected weaknesses are proposed measures to eliminate them.

Este trabalho contém uma revisão bibliográfica atualizada acerca do tema segurança viária; um diagnóstico da situação atual da gestão da segurança viária em Marília e um elenco de ações propostas para a melhoria dessa gestão; um estudo dos acidentes de trânsito ocorridos na cidade, contemplando a identificação dos pontos críticos, a análise das causas dos acidentes à luz das informações contidas nos boletins da ocorrência policial e a apresentação de propostas de ações para redução dos acidentes nesses locais, elaboradas com base em auditorias no campo. Algumas das ações propostas para a melhoria da segurança viária na cidade de Marília são: criação de um órgão específico da Prefeitura para fazer a gestão do trânsito na cidade (incluindo a segurança); implementação de um banco de dados de acidentes informatizado; investimentos nas áreas de Educação e Esforço Legal, utilização da técnica de análise de conflitos de tráfego e de auditoria de campo de forma rotineira pelo órgão gestor, aperfeiçoamento do preenchimento dos boletins de ocorrência de acidentes, através de treinamento dos policiais e eventuais alterações de conteúdo; etc. / This work contains: a bibliographical revision brought up to date concerning the subject road safety; a diagnosis of the current situation of the management of the road safety in Marília and proposal of actions for the improvement of this management; and a study of the traffic accidents occurred in the city, contemplating the identification of the critical points, the analysis of the causes of the accidents based in bulletins of occurrence and some proposals for to reduce the accidents rates in those places based on field auditorships. Some of the actions proposals for the improvement of the road security in the city of Marília are: creation of a specific agency of the City hall to make the management in the transit in the city; implementation of a computerized data base; investment in the area of Education and Efforcement; use ofthe technique of analysis of traffic conflicts and audit of field of routine form for the managing agency; perfectioning of the fulfilling of accident reports, through training of the policemen and eventual alterations the format; etc.

The diploma thesis deals with preparation and implementation of an OHS audit in the industrial enterprise. In the theoretical part, contemporary trends in OHS are described and then attention is kept to the occupational safety, including injury rate in Czech republic and new requirements for occupational health and safety management system according to standard ČSN ISO 45001:2018. In the practical part, company FORTEX – AGS, a.s. is introduced, especially department of transport and mechanization, where was safety audit executed. Then there is assessed occupational health and safety management systém introduced, first by analyzing this system and then by internal audit OHS, in which were requirements new standard ČSN ISO 45001:2018 accounted. At the last part, recommendations are proposed to improvement of occupational health and safety management system and obtaining certificate ČSN ISO 45001:2018.
