The high complexity tied to the reliability and security requirements of industrial processes has demanded the deployment of automatic safety systems. This system is known as Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and is responsible for the process operational safety within safe limits through the monitoring of values and parameters when there are conditions of risk. The SIS is designed with different Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) according to the process risk. The challenge in the deployment of SIS is that the design procedure is complex and not well known, and there are many calculation and risk analysis methods accepted by the safety standards. The motivation was automating and assisting in the design of SIS with regard to the reduction of people involved and manual tasks that may cause errors, the standardization and simplification of procedures and calculations needed and the reduction in project time, promoting an increase in efficiency and reducing the costs. The objective was developing an analysis and design tool for SIS, with web-based programming, capable of performing a study of the risks and failures of an industrial process and calculating an adequate value for the selection of the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) required for the implementation of the safety system. The tool is comprised of four modules: the Study of risks and failures using the HAZOP technique, the Quantification of risks and creation of fault trees; the SIL calculation through the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and the Definition of a Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) suitable for SIL calculated. The developed tool is innovative by systemizing and combining in the same environment all the procedures required for the analysis and design of SIS. Several case studies of SIS design are used for testing and validation of the tool modules, considering a real industrial case and others cases in the literature, in order to demonstrate the efficiency, flexibility of use, and accuracy of the results obtained with the tool application. / 1649039

Enabling sil2 safety certified applications for mobile machine oems

Lauer, Peter 26 June 2020 (has links)
Eaton created a new safety controller architecture to allow our customers to design implement, verify and maintain a SIL-2 safety certified application for compliance with IEC 61508:2010 and ISO 13849 Functional Safety Standards. The new architecture has been implemented in a line of safety controllers SFX12 and SFX20 that extend the line of existing mobile controllers HFX12 to HFX48. The new controllers are targeted for controlling mobile and stationary machine applications with focus on steer by wire and propel by wire.

Évaluation de paramètres de sûreté de fonctionnement en présence d'incertitudes et aide à la conception : application aux Systèmes Instrumentés de Sécurité / Evaluation of safety parameters under uncertainty and optimal design of systems : application to safety instrumented systems

Sallak, Mohamed 19 October 2007 (has links)
The use of safety related systems imposes to evaluate their dependability. Laboratory data and generic data are often used to provide failure data of safety components to evaluate their dependability parameters. However, due to the lower solicitation of safety systems in plant, safety components have not been operating long enough to provide statistical valid failure data. Furthermore, measuring and collecting failure data have uncertainty associated with them, and borrowing data from laboratory and generic data sources involve uncertainty as well. Our contribution is to propose a fuzzy approach to evaluate dependability parameters of safety systems when there is an uncertainty about dependability parameters of systems components. This approach is applied to determine the failure probability on demand of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) in presence of uncertainty. Furthermore, we present an optimal design of SIS by using reliability graphs and genetic algorithms to identify the choice of components and design configuration in a SIS to meet the required SIL

Metodika vývoje a validace softwaru pro bezpečnostní části řídících systémů v divadelní technice / Methodology Development and Validation of Software for Safety-Related Parts of Control Systems in Theater Technique

Drlík, Michal January 2019 (has links)
This thesis describes what the theatre is and what types of machinery can be found there. Then the issue of stage technical machinery is presented into the czech context, respectively into the Europian legislation with the emphasis on the technical norms usage, which are necessary to fulfil in order to reach this aim. In the next part of the thesis is made the analysis of control systems, which are used in the stage technics with the emphasis on the functionality of these control systems, since this functionality determines number and range of possible danger and dangerous events, later on. These dangerous situations are named and specified in detail, thereby their existence, importance and necessity of solution is being emphasized. There is also a possible solution outlined that these dangerous events can be solved in many cases by using of these programmable systems relating to the safety, thereby safety functions realized by these functions. Then the single steps are described into V-model with appropriate documents of these V-model steps. Outcome of this thesis will be suggested model of method and its development and software validation for programmable and control systems in theatre technology.
