Diagnostika školní zralosti v souvislosti s adaptací žáků v 1.ročníku ZŠ / The diagnosis of school maturity in relation to the pupil's adaptation to the 1st year of primary school

The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the determination of the development characteristics of the period from the age of three to eight (i.e. pre-school and younger school age). The principal focus is on the issue of school maturity, the possibilities of its diagnosis and the pupils' adaptation to the first year of primary school. The empirical part introduces a quantitative research focused on some diagnostic methods (the Orientation Test of School Maturity - Orientační test školní zralosti, the Knowledge Test of Pre-school Children - Zkouška znalostí předškolních dětí and The Star - Wave Test) and the possibility of using these methods for predicting a child's adaptation to the first year of primary school. The thesis aims to examine how these methods could be used and also to show the possible limits related to using these methods. This thesis is named Problems of school maturity (with respect to graphic abilities). It is divided into two parts. The theoretical part defines the concept of pre-school age and of school maturity, it deals with possible reasons for school immaturiry and their improvement. Special attention is given to drawing in connection with school maturity. The practical part derives from judgement of school maturity on the base of graphic abilities. The typical signs and possible differences between boys' and girls' graphic abilities are viewed.

The child?s entry to school is an important developmental milestone. Each child is a personality, so there are different variants of adaptation to new conditions. The theoretical part of the thesis acquaints the reader with basic concepts of the pre-school period, school period, and children?s adaptation. On the basis of a qualitative survey, the thesis, then, compares them with presented results. The practical part follows the theoretical one and focuses on comparing success or failure in specified categories. To observe adaptation of very different children to the primary school, children with varied skills and abilities were selected for the survey already in the nursery school. To obtain as much information about children as possible, observations, tests, interviews with teachers in both types of educational institutions as well as questionnaires for parents were used.

My thesis is focused on the theme "Gypsy child at the beginning of school attendace". The main aim of my thesis is to find out how gypsy pupils are able to adapt to an inclusive school. The purpose is complemented by research questions which are divided into two areas according to influencing factors. The first of the factors are internal factors, that means the ones that deal with the individual of a children in the educational process himself, then external factors which influence and participate in education of Roma pupils in primary school. Theoretical part is formed to make consistent unit with the practical part. First chapter is focused on Romas and their ethnic history. In second and third chapter we can find out more about the gypsy pupils in the beginning of school attendance. Second chapter is divided into several subchapters according to the determinants of school maturity. This Diploma Thesis is designed as a case study based on qualitative research focusing on searching the options of support on pre-school children development in the environment of shelters for mothers or families with children. In the theoretical part starting points are presented regarding the issues of family, shelter, school maturity and readiness as well as an issue of constituent functions, possibilities of their diagnostics and development. The initial part of the empiric part describes methodological processes and a research plan is presented. Followed by research report regarding the study in twelve shelters in Prague. One of the research goals was to design a simple manual of development for children aged 3-6 which might have been used as a support for social workers in those shelters. The research tools included questionnaires and interviews among social workers. The questionnaires helped to map the size of shelters, length of stay and characteristic of their clients, approach of institutions to the development of pre-school and school age children as well as the attitudes of social workers towards such development of pre-school children. This diploma thesis focuses on the support of reading preliteracy in preparatory classes. The theoretical part discusses literacy in general, reading literacy as its key domain and literacy as preparation for acquiring knowledge. The support role of family and preschool is defined. Further this thesis discusses preparatory classes, school maturity of pre-school children and postponement of compulsory school attendance as an indicator for admission to preparatory classes. The aim of this research was to find out how teachers support reading literacy in preparatory classes. Data was obtained through semi-structured interviews with teachers of preparatory classes for the school year 2017/2018. The research questions focused on the population of preparatory classes, methods and practices of teachers to support reading literacy, collaboration with other professionals and organizations supporting reading literacy and the tools used in teaching. The experiences of teachers of preparatory classes show that the respondents are interested in reading literacy and are knowledgeable in this issue. The diploma thesis Lexicon Evaluation of Preschool Children is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part of this work on speech therapy describes within four chapters the Czech vocabulary, psychological development of children up to the school maturity, speech development also up to the school maturity and finally presents diagnostic materials used in the Czech Republic for school maturity diagnostics and diagnostics of the lexical-semantic speech level. The practical part includes a quantitative research performed on children respondents in preschool classes in maternity schools. The main goal of this speech-therapy research was the modernization and verification of a testing set aimed at active vocabulary. The main reason was the fact that there is a lack of any adequate material for testing vocabulary in the Czech Republic. The new testing set could be also used as a subtest for school maturity diagnostics. The research conclusions were compared with the real situation of the tested children as referred by their teachers. As a part of the practical part there is the establishment of the research aims and hypotheses, and subsequently the research description, verification of the established hypotheses and definition of research conclusions. This thesis defines social-emotional skills that need to be refined among pre-school children within the context of the beginning of schooling. The work also verifies the possibilities and limits of artefiletics in the development of social and emotional skills of pre-school children. The thesis is of a theoretical- empirical character and is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The chapters of the theoretical part deal with social and emotional development of pre-school children, the meaning of a play in social-emotional development and also with social-emotional constituent part of school maturity.
